Promising colt who showed there was plenty to work on when an encouraging third on debut behind a useful sort in Cherokee Trail (since followed up); open to improvement and leading claims in this field.
Things didn’t go to plan for the NAP yesterday so we’ll be looking to put that right this afternoon and ZEGALO looks an obvious selection at Beverley for Roger Varian. He finished a good third in a useful looking race at Ascot on debut and should open his account here. Not only is he open to improvement but he received 7lb off his main rival Dontaskmeagain who is penalised for winning at Brighton. At a bigger price it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Sir Charles Punch run into a place.

Lingfield 2.55 Augustus Caesar (5/4)
Needed the experience on debut at Ripon and stepped up on that to finish third in a decent maiden at Pontefract; improved again to go close at Southwell last time and looks fairly treated off a mark of 70 for handicap debut; got to go close.
Having improved with every run AUGUSTUS CAESAR is a confident selection to come out on top at Lingfield this afternoon. He went close behind a useful horse at Southwell last time and if stepping up on that again (which he has done in every run) he is the most likely winner here. A mark of 70 looks well within his range on what he has shown so far so fingers crossed we’re onto a winner. In terms of a danger Airbrush has been consistent and is respected while Lilkian is lightly raced and should have further improvement to come.
