Useful type who won a bumper at Ayr and has improved with every run over hurdles, opening his account at Haydock last time pulling clear from a well regarded sort; soft ground ideal and almost certainly has more to come.
I think EBONY JEWEL is a good bet to serve it up to the favourite here. He is getting better as he gains experience and beat a solid yardstick at Haydock last time in First Lord De Cuet. With the promise of more to come he looks a big danger to the jolly Black Pirate. The latter won well on debut over hurdles but didn’t beat much and this will be a much stiffer test of his credentials. It looks between the pair and I’ll be surprised if anything else manages to get involved.

Won two of his last three and showed a good attitude to nail a subsequent winner over 6f here last time; clearly enjoys this track and with plenty of pace on should have a target to aim at; looks worth keeping on side for now.
There’s no doubt MOUNT WELLINGTON is thriving on the AW right now and with the likelihood of more to come coupled with the strong pace likely to be on here he is a confident selection to come out on top again here for Stuart Williams and Rob Hornby. Obviously given his style you always need a bit of luck in running but I think it’s a chance worth taking. Lucky Lodge is a five-time C&D winner and won well last time so looks the main danger. Others to note include Glory Of Paris and at a bigger price Kupa River.
