Greyville 11.55 Red Rock Canyon (8/11)
Likeable type who looks well placed to finally be rewarded for his consistency; denied just half a length over 7f here last time and obvious chance back a furlong in trip if running up to that level again; the one to beat.
The South African NAP is on a hat-trick now and RED ROCK CANYON should justify favouritism in the Maiden Plate. Vaughan Marshall’s 4yo gelding shaped with plenty of encouragement on return when fourth at Scottsville before going close here last time. With the possibility of more to come and in a very winnable race he makes plenty of appeal. Macallan is the closest in the betting but wouldn’t be for me. He has only placed 3 times in 10 starts and needs to find more. Fort Mchenry could go well at a bigger price.

Greyville 1.05 Star Vega (5/2)
Oratorio filly who has won twice over 7f including on this surface; only third on return from 192 days off the track but beaten narrowly and sure to strip fitter from that; great chance to get her head back in front now.
Expecting STAR VEGA to go close here for Tony Rivalland. She is lightly raced for her age and shaped with promise back from a break over further here last time. Back to 6f now she looks to have major claims of adding a third career win. This is competitive but it’s no surprise to see her top the market and she has to go close. Good Rhythm was denied just a short head on debut for his new yard latest. Big player on that and should give the selection most to think about.
