Big run back from 267 days off the track to miss out by just a short head to subsequent Prince Of Wales’s Stakes winner Lord North; had Telecaster behind that day; failed to stay last time so obvious chance back in trip; won this last year.
It’s hard to get away from ELARQAM here. He had main market rival Telecaster trailing behind when missing out by just a short head on return and looks poised to defend his crown with Jim Crowley on top. There isn’t much pace on so I can see him pushing forward. Telecaster did win impressively in France last month so is a danger again. At a bigger price Fox Chairman could run a big race if they go a good gallop. Stayed on after looking beat last time and definitely has ability.

Newmarket 3.25 Ahdab (3/1)
Shamardal colt who has shaped with plenty of promise the last twice, chasing home Astro King at Wolverhampton and then third to My Frankel at Leicester last month; should enjoy the drop back to a mile on handicap debut and looks poised to go close.
We head to Newmarket for our second best bet on Saturday afternoon and AHDAB looks ready to make his mark now tackling handicap company. 73 should be well within reach and I’m surprised he opened at 3/1 – likely to be a lot shorter come post time. The Doyler has been riding really well lately too which is another positive. I think he’ll be ridden quietly before looking to pounce late. Hopefully he settles better today and the step back in trip will obviously help. Turntable is the obvious danger. Can build on that recent win.
