Race 3 Port Macquarie 4.35 Royal Charge (5/6)
Improving type who has knocked on the door the last twice; stepped forward from debut run to go down a length over 1000m at Taree and came on again denied a nose over 1250m at the same venue latest; more to come and should open his account.
The one to be on is definitely ROYAL CHARGE here. He will control the race from a low gate and I can’t see anything good enough in here to run him down. He is improving all the time and was only narrowly denied last time. If he steps forward again he should open his account. Highbury was caught wide last time and his previous run at Grafton reads well so looks the main threat to the selection. Not much standing out at bigger odds but perhaps Another Option could run into a place.

Race 3 Pakenham Park 5.00 Perennial (7/4)
Good looking chestnut mare who rounded off last campaign with a narrow second at Pukekohe; sure to be improved and has a handy gate with Luke Nolen booked for the ride; everything suggests she is going to go close.
This won’t take much winning and the one that catches the eye is definitely PERENNIAL for Peter Moody. She hasn’t been seen for a while but was threatening then and has scope to keep improving so looks a danger to all on return. She has a low draw and can go right on with it if needed. Anitra also hasn’t been seen since February but can improve so is a live danger. Sigrid has the form to get involved too and has to be feared. Hard to rule anything out confidently but the fav should have what it takes to win this.
