Smart type by Mayson who won over this C&D last season off 1lb higher; beaten narrowly at Chepstow last month and again ran well when second there last week; stall 1 and looks sure to take a bit of beating.
There’s a lot to like about the chances of LIHOU here for David Evans. He was only headed late when second here last week and a similar effort should suffice from the inside draw. He is clearly capable off this mark and has to be high on anybodies shortlist. The market is already speaking favourably and I can see him going off fairly short come post time. Newyorkstateofmind is drawn next door and may well be the biggest danger to the selection. Hard to tell if he’d be as effective if the ground deteriorates.

Smart mare by Westerner who put in a career best to win by 5 lengths at Tramore last week, crossing the line with more to give; turned out quickly under a penalty but more to come up in trip and should take the beating.
The thriving ALICE JOHNSTON is taken to follow up for Padraig Roche here. She is a mare on the up and it was good to see her win as she did at Tramore on Sunday. She wouldn’t want the ground too deteriorate too much but otherwise has plenty in favour and a penalty shouldn’t be enough to stop her if she is in the same form. She goes back up in trip and should have too much for these rivals. Cailean’s Angel is the obvious danger if she proves as effective over fences as she is hurdles.
