Race 8 Sunshine Coast 8.08 Rising Star (1/1)
Smart type who improved to win by a neck at Gold Coast on penultimate start; beaten less than two lengths by Chaffeur a fortnight ago and has scope to progress again so leading claims in this field as he looks to make it two wins from six starts.
Hard to get away from RISING STAR at Sunshine Coast on Sunday morning. This gelding is going the right way having finished second over 1000m here before improving to win at Gold Coast. He wasn’t beaten far in stronger company last time and has obvious claims of getting back in the winners enclosure here. It’s a weak race but the main danger is probably The Golden Hind who hasn’t been seen since June but should be better now freshened up. Previous form reads well so can give the favourite a race without being good enough. Invincible Faith is the closest in the betting but he isn’t entirely convincing and finished nearer last than first when last out at Ipswich so needs to bounce back.

Race 3 Kalgoorlie 7.06 Manhattan Money (5/4)
Talented mare who has won four of her thirteen starts and was back in the winners enclosure over shorter here last time; actually won three of her last four and second on the other run so clearly thriving; the one to beat.
We head to Kalgoorlie for our second best bet of the day overnight Down Under and MANHATTAN MONEY is taken to make it three wins from her last four. She is progressing nicely and this doesn’t look any harder so why look elsewhere? She is versatile regarding tactics and given her gate in 5 I think she’ll take a toe into the race before pouncing late. She won comfortably last time and a similar effort to that should suffice. Hayan Lad can go well with a 2kg claim and looks pretty solid in terms of a place. Semigel needs to get his act together as not been running well enough to trouble the favourite here. Blooms may run into a place at a nice price. Better than bare result latest.
