Sandown 1.50 Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap Chase (Class 2) 1m71/2f
This looks like a good renewal of this race on paper and we have a few standouts in here. MOONLIGHTER impressed me when just getting beaten by Greaneteen first time out. The latter has gone on to finish second behind Politologue in the Tingle Creek. I did expect him to win next time up at Newbury but fell when leading. He has been given a bit of time off to hopefully iron out any jumping issues and I think he will be hard to beat granted a clear round.
The main danger looks to be Ibleo who has been ultra-consistent but keeps just missing out in second and gets put up by the handicapper each time. He’s almost being punished for his consistency.
Sandown 2.25 Unibet Tolworth Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 1) (Class 1) 2m
This race is always a highlight around this time of year as we get to see what some of the top novice hurdlers are capable of. METIER has impressed on both starts winning by a combined 15 and a half lengths. His win at Ascot last time on soft ground was a dominate display. He made all and when the others came he just went away again. If in the same form he should take a lot of beating and he has to be my selection for the race.
Galice Macalo is the main danger as she looks a decent mare but there haven’t been many mares winning this over the years so that would be a nagging concern. Do Your Job and Shakem Up’arry have good form in the book but if the favourite is as good as I think he is I expect him to win and win well.
Sandown 3.00 Unibet Veterans’ Handicap Chase (Class 2) 3m
This race usually attracts a big field and there are 17 set to go to post again. It looks wide-open with the favourite at the time of writing 7/1 which says it all. POTTERS LEGEND is in great form and still looks like he could be better than a mark of 135. He won on reappearance at Warwick and then went close in a Grade 3 handicap which looks solid form. He gets to run off the same mark and if in the same form he will be thereabouts at a decent each way price.
The main dangers are Minellacelebration who was in great form before unseating last time and Crosspark who is very consistent with a run of second-place finishes. Jepeck won this last year but came into the race in much better form so doesn’t appeal even off the same mark.
Sandown 3.35 Unibet Casino Deposit £10 Get £40 Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) 2m
A comeptitive handicap to cap off the card at Sandown and THE PINK’N looks a fair price at the 15/2 available at the time of writing.
He has some solid form in the book with a run of 3 seconds and the run behind Floressa last time looked good at the time but the fact Floressa went on to run in the Christmas Hurdle suggests that horse is pretty good. The Pink’n has only gone up a point for that run and if in the same form should go well in this field.
Friend Or Foe looks a danger but has been put up 13lb so will have to be very good to defy that. Monsieur Lecoq is obviously held in high regard based on the races he has ran in but hasn’t looked promising of late. Highway One O Two coming back to hurdles could be the one who will be the main danger as he just didn’t jump well enough over fences but is a quality hurdler.
