THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS ON THE AW AT NEWCASTLE ON THURSDAY NIGHT!
Newcastle 7.00 Crantock Bay (15/8)
Ran well again when going close at Chelmsford last time; winner won his next 2 starts so form given a big boost since; looks well placed to finally be rewarded for his consistency; handicapped to strike.
Despite having finished 2nd 7 times in total I don’t see a lot wrong with the attitude of CRANTOCK BAY and I think he’ll be rewarded for his consistency on Thursday night. He was beaten just three quarters of a length at Chelmsford when last seen and given that horse Power Over Me has won his next two the form looks rock solid. He is back in handicap company now and was denied just a neck in a similar contest over track and trip last month. He is 2lb lower and won’t get many better chances than this. He is 15/8 at the time of writing and has the sort of profile the bookies might want to take on so hopefully we get a good price about him. A drift wouldn’t bother me. Chosen World is the danger.

Fakenham 1.55 Golden Whisky (2/1)
Promising sort who needed the run on return at Exeter; failed to justify good support when pulled up at Haydock next time; back to his best winning impressively at Ludlow latest; can do better yet and well treated under a penalty.
This looks a good opportunity for GOLDEN WHISKY to record his third victory over fences. He won by 16 lengths at Ludlow last week and if he turns up in the same sort of form he should win this under a penalty. He can jump better so if he does he’ll get the majority of these at it. Aubusson isn’t getting any younger but he took advantage of a career-low mark back from 3 months off the track winning at Lingfield last month and backed that up when second at Warwick last time. Should run well but I’ll be surprised if he’s good enough to beat the favourite. Similar comments apply to Aintree My Dream who keeps running to a consistent level and shouldn’t be far away either.
