NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE US NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 4 AT MAHONING VALLEY ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT!
Race 4 Mahoning Valley 7.08 Deo Volente (7/4)
Progressive colt who showed improved form to win impressively over track and trip at the start of this month; broke smartly and went straight on the lead and dictated throughout finding more to repel them one by one.
It’s quite a tricky night Stateside but one stands out at Mahoning Valley in DEO VOLENTE. This colt won head in chest last time and that was a good effort given the fractions he set. He was actually taken on at the quarter pole but had plenty in reserve and eventually drew off again. There was a lot to like about that and after just 5 starts he can improve again. First Victory has a fair bit of experience to draw on and ran well when beaten a neck last time. He had Fahrenheit in behind and could run better than his odds suggest here. The latter has been running to a consistent level so shouldn’t be too far away either but they both have their work cutout to try and peg back this favourite.

Race 5 Tampa Bay Downs 7.45 Bold Paynter (2/1)
Likeable sort who landed back to back wins last year before struggling up in grade at Gulfstream last month; this much easier and no surprise to see him bounce back and make it 3 wins from his last 4.
I’ve got to be with BOLD PAYNTER here back down in grade. He was never a factor last time but that was a good race. In much calmer waters here he can get back to winning ways as his win prior to that below par run was very impressive winning by nearly 10 lengths. He has the gears to see these off. Professional has been holding his form well since winning in August last year and could have a say if bringing his best form. Does have a bit to prove off the back of that last effort though where there didn’t look to be too much under the bonnet. Snap Hook may well emerge as the greater danger as like the selection he will find this easier than recent contests.
