Race 10 Gulfstream 9.45 War Stopper (1/1)

Improving colt who has won two of his last three now; showed a good attitude to get well on top in the run to the line over a mile here last month; more to come as he gains experience and can win this before going on to better things.

It’s been a good month Stateside and we head to Gulfstream for our final NAP of January. WAR STOPPER won well here last time and with the step back up to the extended mile in his favour he should take plenty of beating under Irad Ortiz Junior. I think he’ll be positive on him and push forward again and he might always be dictating. He certainly has the gears to grind it out. Red Crescent ran no sort of race up in grade last time but the start before that he was in the winners enclosure so he could be the danger if bouncing back. Looking exposed though. Telephone Talker is lightly raced and should have more to offer on dirt so is also respected.

Race 1 Tampa Bay Downs 5.42 Booyakasha (7/4)

Knuckled down really well to win at Laurel Park in November; not so good next start but back to form when second over track and trip earlier this month; can build on that again now and looks the one to beat in this field.

I’m happy to stick with BOOYAKASHA here. This horse is gradually improving and ran well when bumping into a useful yardstick last time. He can keep getting better as he gains experience and this looks a good opportunity for him to return to winning ways. West Side Warrior scored on return but was thrashed last time. This is easier but he has enough to prove off the back of that and I think the favourite will have too much when they settle down for a fight. Litigant has ability and is another one not to rule out. He hasn’t shown a great deal the last twice though so does need to do better but I think there’s good reason to believe he will step forward sooner rather than later.
