Race 5 Pakenham Park 9.00 Office Jim (6/4)

Useful type who ran another big race in defeat when second over shorter here last month; poised to go one better now back up to 1600m and appeals as the most likely winner in this field; keep on side.

We head to Pakenham on Thursday morning as we look to land another Aussie NAP and the consistent OFFICE JIM looks ready to get himself back in the winners enclosure. He has knocked on the door the last twice and should have these rivals covered if all goes to plan. Leveraged is a useful mare who hasn’t been running badly. She has 3 wins from 16 starts and looks the main danger to the favourite. Give Me Ten brings winning form to the table and has to be respected off the back of that. This tougher but she’s in great form and is unexposed in comparison. It’s 9/1 bar those mentioned and I’ll be surprised if anything at a bigger price manages to land a blow.

Race 5 Doomben 6.04 Hey Big Splenda (6/4)

Good looking sort who showed promise on debut finishing second at Ipswich and built on that to run a big race at Gold Coast last month, making up good ground late; gets the rail now and should be hitting peak fitness.

It’s hard to look past HEY BIG SPLENDA here. He has looked a horse with considerable ability on two starts to date and with the promise of more to come he can make the breakthrough now. Kudu looks the pace angle and from a low draw I think the favourite will bag a good position. Better Get Ready hasn’t been seen for a long time but if he is ready to go he could be the danger. Like the selection he is unexposed so that’s probably why he is as short as he is in the betting. Head Legislator was wide when second at Gosford but fails to back that up last time and comes here with a bit to prove now. Macedon Flyer makes his debut but will need to be plenty forward to win this.
