Saturday’s Best Bets
IT DOESN’T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS! A mega busy day ahead on Saturday with the Dublin Racing Festival from Leopardstown plus a cracking card from Sandown and more.
Scroll down to find our most confident selections (NAP & NB) PLUS race-by-race picks for every race across all FIVE meetings (Wetherby abandoned).
NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN IRELAND AGAIN AT LEOPARDSTOWN ON SATURDAY!
Leopardstown 3.15 Honeysuckle (13/8)
Unbeaten mare who won this last year en route to lowering the colours of Benie des Dieux at the Cheltenham Festival; just keeps getting better and if she runs her race she should have too much for them.
I can’t wait to see HONEYSUCKLE here. She is a perfect 9-9 under Rules and even won her point to point so has never actually been beaten. She dug deep in this last year to beat Darver Star before going on to win the Mares’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival. She produced a serious burst of speed and sustained it through the line to beat Benie Des Dieux that day and looks a seriously talented animal. She was always doing enough to beat Ronald Pump on return and that should have left her spot on for this. Sharjah was obviously impressive winning a third successive Matheson over C&D in December but he failed to back that up last year and it could be a similar outcome here.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT SANDOWN!
Sandown 3.30 Ask Me Early (5/2)
Progressive staying chaser who came into his own back up in trip on chase debut winning impressively at Chepstow; followed up at the same venue last time showing a good attitude to make all; jumps well; hat-trick beckons.
Given ASK ME EARLY won his point to point over 3 miles it’s no surprise to see him flourishing now and even with a further 7lb rise he looks the one to beat in this contest. Conditions certainly won’t inconvenience him and with scope to improve again he can stay ahead of the assessor. He jumps so well which alone should get a lot of these at it. Coo Star Sivola obviously won the Ultima at the Cheltenham Festival back in 2018 and is down another 2lb after finishing fifth at Kempton. He might run a bit better here but needs to show more for me to part with my hard earner. Danny Whizzbang was pulled up last time so is opposed too. Kiltealy Briggs may end up being the biggest danger.
Daily Double
The Daily Double consists of both the NAP and NB and is a great way of covering our two best bets of the day to maximise profit. They run at Leopardstown and Sandown on Saturday afternoon.
