NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) WON AT 11/4 YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT ASCOT ON SATURDAY!
Ascot 3.35 Cyrname (5/6)
High-class chaser; hard to argue with his C&D form figures of 111F and won this in devastating fashion in 2019; impressive in Charlie Hall on return; should bounce back from his King George flop and hard to oppose.
Nicholls is double-handed here and he’ll be hoping CYRNAME can get back on track in first-time cheekpieces. He is undoubtedly the most talented of these and the way he won this back in 2019 still lives fresh in the memory. He quite simply blew them away. He failed to fire in the King George when last seen but that’s worth forgiving and if he is back to anywhere near his best he should win this. His stablemate Master Tommytucker is certainly no backnumber and he has really got his act together of late so I don’t expect him to go down without a fight. It could easily be a 1-2 for the stable. Dashel Drasher wears his heart on his sleeve so you couldn’t rule out another big run from him here.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS AT WINCANTON ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON!
Wincanton 3.18 Song For Someone (11/8)
Likeable type who has taken his form to a new level this season winning the Coral Hurdle on return and then digging deep to win the International at Cheltenham last time; this no tougher so even with a 6lb penalty should prove difficult to beat.
This is an intriguing race as Goshen will take up some of the market but for me you just can’t back him on what we’ve seen this season. He hasn’t recovered since unseating in the Triumph and the Flat campaign clearly flopped. If you back him you’re just guessing at this stage and hoping he returns to form. At 3/1 he is not a play for me and it only strengthens my view that SONG FOR SOMEONE is the one to beat. He has a 6lb penalty but has looked better than ever recently and that defeat of Silver Streak was given a huge boost when that rival lowered the colours of reigning Champion Hurdler Epatante at Kempton. He is on a 4-timer and I think he’ll take care of these comfortably.
Daily Double
The Daily Double consists of both the NAP and NB and is a great way of covering our two best bets of the day to maximise profit. They run at Wincanton and Ascot on Saturday afternoon.
