Race 4 Goulburn 4.40 Classic Train (10/11)

Improving filly who created a big impression winning by a nose on debut despite racing greenly and rider losing whip; beaten less than a length when third last month; open to further progress now and hard to oppose.

The NAP was rubbish last night so hopefully we can bounce back on Thursday. CLASSIC TRAIN looks a filly on the up and if she improves again she should make it 2 wins from her first 3 starts. She sprung a bit of a surprise on debut winning at 12/1 doing plenty wrong but showing a great attitude to prevail. She looked very raw and the rider lost the whip so it was a massive effort to win. She was far from disgraced when third last time beaten less than a length and this looks easier so with further gains likely she can win again. Todwick finally made the breakthrough at Gosford last time and is the type to do better again so is respected as the danger. Bizou is also entitled to plenty of respect.

Race 6 Townsville 6.40 Oriental Girl (6/4)

Likeable mare who has 8 wins from 20 starts and won well back from 5 months off at Cairns last month; fitter now and looks the one they all have to beat given her best form stacks up; keep safe.

I was expecting ORIENTAL GIRL to be shorter than 6/4 here so she has to be the selection. She is a likeable mare who certainly knows where the winning line is with a near 50% strike rate so far. She was back to her best last time and with added fitness now she should take care of these. Sanglier is no mug but I only really see one danger in this field and it’s Beau Jet. He has 11 wins from 43 starts and comes here chasing a hat-trick. He hasn’t been seen since November though but does have some decent figures fresh so should give the fav a race. I can see the pair dominating in the closing stages. Sanglier best of the rest but Hard Yaga also ran well when second last time behind the selection.
