Windsor 6.20 Classical Wave (13/8)
Likeable type who really impressed sweeping past the field to follow up his Wolverhampton win at Lingfield last month; lost nothing in defeat when narrowly denied latest; more to come on turf now.
Being by Gleneagles I’m expecting CLASSICAL WAVE to keep improving. He beat another progressive horse in Khatm when winning so effortlessly at Lingfield last month and I think he is capable of better back on turf now. This looks winnable and I think he can make it 3 wins from his last 4. Maiden Castle was a good third when last seen in October, only beaten a length. Lightly raced for his age so should have more to offer. Looks the main danger if fit enough to do himself justice. Water’s Edge didn’t show a great deal on return but is a three-time C&D winner so also has to enter calculations. Hotspur Harry brings winning form to the table but is up 4lb and in a better race now.

Lingfield 2.00 Devizes (2/1)
Progressive son of Dubawi who made it 4 from his last 5 including a C&D hat-trick when winning by a head last time; great attitude under pressure so good chance he can go in again up just 4lb; probably still on a good mark.
Given DEVIZES only ever seems to do just enough it’s hard for the handicapper to punish him too much and I make him the one to beat again here. He has a real likeable way of going through his races and with a fair bit of pace on here things could pan out perfectly for him again. Beat The Breeze won over C&D in December and has been running well chasing home Monsaraz and Aventuriere the last twice. Looks the most obvious one to chase the selection home. Abel Tasman was poorly placed last time so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him fare better here at an each way price. Flying Standard should lead them and I wouldn’t want to see him given too much rope as could be dangerous off the front.
