THE AUSSIE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 8 AT MACKAY ON THURSDAY MORNING!

Race 8 Mackay 7.35 The Egyptian (5/4)

Progressive sort who has won 2 of his last 3 and impressed again last time making it 2-2 over C&D dictating throughout; this race is cutting up so it looks a great chance for him to go in again; likely to push forward and make all.

The Aussie NAP could only manage second overnight so hopefully we can go one better on Thursday. We head to Mackay where THE EGYPTIAN can make it a perfect 3-3 over this track and trip. He bossed them last time and with main market rival Great Fox scratched along with Frugal, Fanaar, Monsieur Macron and Belzu the race is really starting to cut up now. The selection has more to offer and this doesn’t look any tougher so I’m expecting him to push forward and look to dominate again. Princess Rules disappointed at Rockhampton last time but if she bounced back here she could be the main danger to the selection. Kefalonia is chasing a hat-trick but this is tougher so he needs more.

Race 5 Nowra 5.50 Toretto (6/4)

Likeable type who made the breakthrough at just the fifth attempt at Wagga at the start of the month, justifying strong support; confidence high off the back of that and blinkers can help straighten her up; hard to oppose again.

I’m surprised TORETTO isn’t shorter here for Matthew Dale and Jeff Penza. He deservedly made the breakthrough at Wagga last time and he’s getting better with experience. This looks a very winnable race and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t go close. So Sneeky also brings winning form to the table and is the obvious threat. He’s improving like the selection so I think the pair will fight it out with the fav a confident choice to come out on top. Folk Hero won at Queanbeyan and impressed then but wasn’t so good as Sapphire Coast last time so comes here with enough to prove for now. I do still think he has potential but might just need a bit more time to get back on track.
