Glorious Goodwood 1.50 Unibet ’15 To Go’ Kincsem Handicap (Class 2) 1m2f

Mark Johnston has done well in this race through the years and it’s no surprise to see him saddle 5 of the 12 runners. Finding which one is his best hope is easier than it sounds and while the betting is suggesting it’s King Frankel he has had enough chances for me so I’m keen to be against this time. MR EXCELLENCY would be the most interesting with Hollie Doyle in the saddle. This colt by Awtaad has made great strides lately winning his last two in good style up to this trip. The ground is drying out all the time and that should help and I still think he has scope off a mark of 87. He can race keenly but this big field should help him settle and I think he has been largely overlooked in the market.

Away from the Johnston-trained runners AERION POWER would be my main play in the race. This Kingman colt has been largely progressive winning his first two over a mile this season before running creditably in the Britannia and then missing out by just a neck up to this trip for the first time at Doncaster latest. 3lb claimer Mark Crehan mistook the half furlong market for the winning post on that occasion and eased up costing him the race. He has clocked some decent speed figures and with more to come I think he has a big shout under SDS. Patient Dream and the unexposed Taraashoq look the main dangers.

Glorious Goodwood 2.25 Unibet Richmond Stakes (Group 2) (Class 1) 6f

The Richmond Stakes looks an interesting little race this year with ASYMMETRIC looking like the one to beat. He is a head away from being 3 wins in 3 runs but that second placed finish behind Lusail looks top form and it was a big step forward. He has already won over course and distance and won’t mind the ground however it comes up. If he is in the same form as Newmarket last time out he will be tough to beat.

Clive Cox has won the last 2 runnings for this race and I think Caturra could be overpriced for this and rates as my main danger after a good Listed win at Newbury last time. Of the rest Ebro River ran well behind the selection last time and has decent place claims but isn’t entirely straightforward.

Glorious Goodwood 3.00 John Pearce Racing Gordon Stakes (Group 3) (Class 1) 1m4f

This is a race I’m looking forward to and I think it’s finally time for WORDSWORTH to shine again. This colt by Galileo has done nothing wrong this season chasing home some smart horses. He was second to Kemari in the Queen’s Vase and then has bumped into Hurricane Lane the last twice. We know what that horse has done since so it looks very good form. Down in grade here it looks an obvious opportunity for him to get his head back in front. He looks a cut above these.

Third Realm posted a big run to beat subsequent Derby winner Adayar at Lingfield in May. That horse has improved no-end since so I wouldn’t want to take that form on face-value obviously. He was only fifth to that horse in the Derby not disgraced so does look the danger if handling this track. Yibir shoulders a 3lb penalty which makes life tougher but it wouldn’t be a huge shock if he was the one to chase home Wordsworth.

Glorious Goodwood 3.35 Qatar Nassau Stakes (Fillies’ Group 1) (British Champions Series) (Class 1) 1m2f

This years Nassau Stakes may only have a small field but it looks a wide-open contest. With the 3 years olds winning 5 of the last 6 runnings of this race I think JOAN OF ARC has a decent chance. Aidan O’Brien has won this 4 times and knows what it takes to win it. Joan Of Arc really stepped forward when stepping up to this trip in France last month and I think she still has plenty to come over staying trips. She just missed out in the Irish Guineas this year but she is more than capable of taking this race based on her eased down win last time.

The other 3 year old I like in the race is Zeyaadah who won a Group 3 at Newcastle last time and this looks like her best trip for now. She won that race with a bit in hand and could trouble the main fancies for this race at a double-figure price. Of the 5 year-olds Audarya has to be the main danger after running Love very close last time out and she will be thereabouts at the finish but gives plenty of weight to our selection.

Joan Of Arc 3/1

Glorious Goodwood 4.10 Goodwood Racecourse Patrons Nursery (Class 2) 7f

I’m hearing really good things about ADJUVANT. This New Bay colt is a perfect 2-2 having overcome notable signs of inexperience to win by a neck at Chester and he quickly improved to win impressively at Salisbury last time. The second Sed Maarib has bolted up at Beverley since, looking a nice prospect himself, so the form has already been franked. This obviously requires another step forward but Michael Bell think this could be his best 2yo and with Ryan Moore booked he looks to have plenty going for him.

Highland Premiere is a likeable type who relished the longer trip to score at Catterick last time. He is one of the dangers for sure. Given the shape of the race I’m going to have an each way saver too as SOUTH AUDLEY is a bit too big in the betting. He only had to be pushed out to win at Nottingham and his opening mark looks lenient to me. I think he’ll go better than his odds suggest.

Glorious Goodwood 4.45 Tatler EBF Maiden Fillies’ Stakes (GBB Race) (Class 2) 7f

An 18-runner maiden is not always a great betting race and this does look tough. I usually try and go with a horse with a bit of form in the book and will be having a small punt on WILDERNESS GIRL. Of those with a run she has some of the best form after finishing just 2 lengths down the field in a good maiden at Newmarket earlier in the month. Ardbraccan who is favourite at the time of writing for the Nursery on the same card beat her that day and that form should make the selection pretty popular in the betting and will go well from stall 4.

Of the rest I think the main danger could be Shoutout who is bred to be smart early on and on pedigree the ground shouldn’t matter too much. At bigger prices both Brazilian Beach and Typewriter are worth second looks but I’m not keen to have more than one bet in it given the lack of information on offer.

Goodwood 4.45

Wilderness Girl 7/2

Glorious Goodwood 5.20 World Pool Handicap (Class 3) 5f

I’m keen to side with the progressive TWILIGHT CALLS for Henry Candy. This colt by Twilight Son recorded some good form as a 2yo without winning but stepped forward to open his account at Doncaster in May. That second to Imperial Yellow looks a very good run now given how impressive that horse was winning at Newmarket at the weekend. He handled the drop back to this trip at Newmarket last time readily getting on top late. He is up 8lb but has more to offer and looks a danger to all.

WHENTHEDEALINSDONE actually beat Twilight Calls as a 2yo at Newbury and has done well this campaign. He impressed back down to this trip at Windsor last month and wasn’t disgraced back up to 6f beaten 3 lengths at Newmarket last time. This speed test will prove ideal and if the ground continues to dry out watch his odds tumble. Big each way player and can’t be left out. Dangers include Caroline Dale and A Pint Of Bear.
