NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS AT GLORIOUS GOODWOOD ON THURSDAY AFTERNOON!
Goodwood 5.20 Twilight Calls (5/2)
Twilight Son colt who left previous form behind to win convincingly at Doncaster on return; bumped into a nice horse when second at Leicester; improved again to win readily at Newmarket; can still do better yet.
I’m keen to side with the progressive TWILIGHT CALLS for Henry Candy. This colt by Twilight Son recorded some good form as a 2yo without winning but stepped forward to open his account at Doncaster in May. That second to Imperial Yellow looks a very good run now given how impressive that horse was winning at Newmarket at the weekend. He handled the drop back to this trip at Newmarket last time readily getting on top late. He is up 8lb but has more to offer and looks a danger to all. WHENTHEDEALINSDONE has done well this campaign. He impressed back down to this trip at Windsor and wasn’t disgraced last time. This speed test will prove ideal and the drying ground is also a plus.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) ALSO RUNS AT GLORIOUS GOODWOOD TODAY!
Goodwood 3.00 Wordsworth (7/2)
Galileo colt who has bumped into Hurricane Lane the last twice; still improving and down in grade here so should find this easier; big chance to get his head back in front especially if getting a good pace to aim at.
This is a race I’m looking forward to and I think it’s finally time for WORDSWORTH to shine again. He’s done nothing wrong this season chasing home some smart horses. He was second to Kemari in the Queen’s Vase and then has bumped into Hurricane Lane the last twice. We know what that horse has done since so it looks good form. Down in grade it looks an obvious opportunity for him to get his head back in front. He looks a cut above these. Third Realm beat subsequent Derby winner Adayar at Lingfield. That horse has improved no-end since so I wouldn’t want to take that form on face-value. He was only fifth to him in the Derby not disgraced so does look the danger if handling this track.
