THE US NAP (BEST BET) WON AGAIN LAST NIGHT AND IS NOW ON A NINE-TIMER!

Race 9 Woodbine 10.17 Miss Speedy (5/4)

Promising filly who was slowly away on debut and detached but made rapid headway and burst between rivals to get up easily late in the day; only going to improve from that initial effort and step up in trip also a good move now.

The US NAP won again last night as Santa Barbara won impressively at Arlington. That was our eighth winner in a row so we’re on for a NINE-TIMER tonight! It was hard not to be impressed by the way MISS SPEEDY powered home at Woodbine on debut and with the step up in trip likely to unlock further improvement she should have too many gears for this field. They went hard on her debut run and she travelled strongly as she cut through the field. I loved the way she split rivals and quickly put it to bed. Dejas Too has more experience than the selection and looks the danger but she was beaten 7 lengths last time and will need to better that to pose any sort of a challenge here.

Race 8 Del Mar 1.30 Leprino (7/4)

Useful type who has won 4 of his last 5 and showed a good attitude to get up last time having stalked the pace throughout; this track and trip suits him well and hard to oppose again given he has the best form on offer.

It’s a bit of a wait for our US NB but the thriving LEPRINO should be tough to beat in Race 8 on the card at Del Mar. He has been thriving of late completing a hat-trick over C&D in May with a 10 length romp. He failed to fire away from this venue on penultimate start but back over track and trip last time he was back to his best and loomed up going strongly before asserting late up the straight. I’ll be surprised if he’s beaten here and 7/4 looks a juicy price all things considered (and even better value when combined with the US NAP). Causeididitmyway was beaten half a length by the favourite last time and could be the biggest danger again. I’m expecting them to finish the 1-2 to be honest.
