Race 6 Doomben 5.42 Weona Smartone (10/11)

Exciting horse who has won 5 of his 6 starts to date and is unbeaten since debut; bossed them again over track and trip last time and no reason why he can’t make a winning return; looks one to keep firmly on side.

This isn’t a bad race but I can’t help but side with the winning machine that is WEONA SMARTONE for David Vandyke and Ryan Maloney. He is just getting better and better and he has been readied for this with a solid trial. He will go forward and should burn them all off. Dreamreacher has won 4 of his 12 starts and looks a useful type himself so he should make a race of it. Bar them two Hidden Hail has won 2 of his last 4 and is 4 from 10 overall so also deserves a second look but he might just be playing for a place with this fav likely to go off hard and not come back. He’s A Hotshot is exposed in comparison to those mentioned so will find life tough and hasn’t won for a while.

Race 6 Kembla Grange 5.30 Paulele (11/8)

Smart colt who has won 4 of his 6 starts to date and really impressed again at Randwick last time hitting the line hard to win convincingly; fitter now and capable of better so looks the one they all have to beat; nice prospect.

Cracking race in prospect between the top 2 but I readily prefer PAULELE for James Cummings and James Mcdonald. This good looking chestnut is going from strength to strength and I loved the way he beat them on return last time. With scope to improve again and added fitness on side he should take care of these and win again. Stay Inside is the obvious threat as he has won 3 of his 4 as well so can do better but might just be bumping into one. Remarque looked to need the run when third last time behind Paulele but even still it’s hard to see him closing the gap all that much. In The Congo will do better but this is a tough ask so he’s best watched for now.
