Epsom 1.45

Not a very deep nursery and I would have been really strong on Bonita B before GREAT HAVANA’s latest run at Ffos Las. He really improved for the step up in the trip to win with a bit in hand. He has been giving a 4lb rise for that but I have a suspicion he could be a fair bit better than a mark of 71 over this trip and further and is the one to beat under Oisin Murphy.

Bonita B has been so consistent she is hard to rule out with most of her runs at this trip seeing her finish in the placings. She may not be the best handicapped but her consistency makes her the main danger. Of the rest Deacs Delight should be better up in trip and can chase the selection and Bonita B home.

Epsom 2.15

A disappointing turnout for this maiden with just the 3 runners set to go to post. I’m not expecting much of a price but I do think NEW MISSION is comfortably the one to beat for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. This Dubawi colt shaped as though he’d improve for the experience when sixth on debut at Sandown and while he didn’t impress at Chelmsford last time he was slowly into stride and ran on well at the death. With more to come and switching back on turf I think he is a confident bet to take this out.

Herbertandflorence is likely to do better handicapping so is safely ruled out here and that leaves Time Test colt Tiempo Star as the main danger to the favourite. He ran well on just his second start at Newmarket last time and with further improvement should turn into a nice horse but might just be bumping into one here.

New Mission 5/6

Epsom 2.50

With positive tactics likely to be adopted again NOTEBOOK could take a bit of catching. We saw yesterday the pace holding up and if he gets into a nice rhythm under Atzeni on the speed he could take a bit of pegging back in the cheekpieces. He has been coming to the boil most recently beaten three quarters of a length into second at Goodwood, just a quarter of a length into third at Sandown and again less than 2 lengths into second last time. He is off the same mark and I don’t see anything handicapped well enough to contain him in this small field.

Recon Mission won here in April but has struggled a bit since. Did run better when fifth at Sandown last time but is off the same mark here and doesn’t look to have anything in hand. Delegate This Lord is a tricky customer and is hard to warm to off the back of that Salisbury run.

Epsom 3.25

I found this quite tricky so have decided to take a chance on SPIRIT WARNING for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy. I know he is on a long losing run and that makes him quite hard to fancy but if he turns in one of his better efforts here he could easily go close. He has the best speed figure on offer and has run well on both starts at this track finishing second on both occasions. He is down to a mark of just 64 here which is some 25lb below his last winning mark. There is plenty of pace on and if they go hard it could fall in his lap.

Eloquent Arthur won off the front at Newbury but a 6lb penalty makes life much tougher and he’ll face competition up front from Makashi, Sir Oliver and potentially even Pitchcombe. I think the hat-trick seeking Arthur’s Victory is the danger. He has a good turn of foot which could be seen to good effect here but the selection appeals at a much bigger price.

Epsom 4.00

This looks a very competitive event with some potential big improvers in here. NICKS NOT WONDER may not be as unexposed as some of these but looks as though he is ready to land a race at this level. He has the talented Saffie Osbourne and her 5lb claim back onboard which will make all the difference. Last time they teamed up he lost out by half a length at Wolverhampton and a repeat of that should see him go close. He is off the same mark and is still relatively lighted raced for his age so there could be more to come.

Both Hey Teacher and Eton Blue really stepped forward with their last runs with the former winning by nearly 10 lengths. Both could be well handicapped but still have to show it at this level and the selection has so I am happy with him at an each way price. Angels Roc is still a maiden and needs to bounce back to have any say.

Epsom 4.35

Fascinating Shadow is the unexposed horse in the field and has been given plenty of respect by the bookies installed as the favourite at the time of writing. I think DOLPHIN VISTA is good value against though. He hasn’t won for a while but that isn’t without trying and he was a creditable third over C&D beaten just half a length last month. He finished the race of really well and off the same mark should definitely have a say in this field. The harder they go the better it will be for him as he likes a target to aim at.

The pace is likely to come from Arenas Del Tiempo and Mirage Mac with the rest of the field wanting to be off the pace. Hackbridge was left poorly placed last time on the AW but has enough to prove back on turf. Hard to pinpoint an exact danger but Classy Dame might be overpriced.

Epsom 5.05

Not the best race to cap off the card at Epsom but I do quite fancy GOSNAY GOLD to land this contest. His last two runs were in better company and a drop down to this level should see him go very well. He ran over course and distance in July finishing a length second and gets to run off the same mark on Tuesday. If he is in the same form he is the one to beat.

There don’t seem to be many dangers but Apache Jewel and Chloholteen if running to their best could challenge the selection. That said they aren’t the most consistent so Gosnay Gold looks a solid option.
