Newcastle 6.05

The way SECOND SLIP won over C&D on penultimate start was mightily impressive and for me he just didn’t travel with the same zest when beaten by Hasty Sailor last time. The latter reversed the previous form with the selection and is a nice horse himself. Given a bit of time since I think we could see Second Slip back to his best and if he produces that here he will go very close. He has only had 7 starts so remains open to more improvement than most.

Winterwatch has won his last two and produced a career best at Lingfield last time so looks the biggest danger with Hayley Turner in the saddle. At a bigger price The Whipmaster completes the shortlist.

Newcastle 6.35

This looks a competitive race but there is one standout who could be very well handicapped. ACE ROTHSTEIN romped home at Yarmouth a week ago on his seasonal debut and he has clearly stepped forward significantly. He won by 5 lengths that day suggesting he has progressed well between 2 and 3 and the step up in trip has just compounded that. He is only up 6lb and if in the same form he wins this.

Oslo ran well last week considering he was blocked off and with the claimer onboard this time I make him the main danger. Of the rest Tregony is in top form losing his win streak of 4 last time at Nottingham and will be in the mix again here.

Newcastle 7.05

Bonneval is likely to prove popular after his C&D win when last seen but he has been nudged up another 4lb now and this clearly demands more from him. I think he’s a bit short in the market and LORD NEIDIN represents better value. The latter improved for a wind op to win at Pontefract in June and ran well behind Bonneval in July. He wasn’t as good when down the field at Windsor but it’s still relatively early days and he still has scope off his current mark especially if things drop right. He is likely to be held up so hopefully gets a good target to aim at.

Bonneval is obviously one of the dangers but Sevenal might pose a bigger threat as he has won 2 of his last 3 now and seems to have stepped forward having been gelded. Sugauli also has to enter calculations in a competitive race.

Newcastle 7.05

Lord Neidin 6/1 each way

Newcastle 7.35

An interesting contest with a few of these on nice win streaks and could win again in their current form but the majority of their racing has been done on turf so I am going to take a chance on one at a bigger price. EAGLE CREEK is better than his run at Lingfield when last seen in the Racing League a few weeks ago. He was awkward at the start and had to race wide as a result. His run before that over today’s course and distance should see him go close as it rated well on the clock and he wasn’t far away. At a double-figure price he looks good value.

Billhilly and Foxtrot Sizzler are the main dangers on their turf form with the former winning his last 3 including the easiest win at Lingfield on the turf last week. Foxtrot Sizzler has also won 3 in-a-row but he may be getting close to being exposed now so I will stick with Billhilly to give the selection the most to do.

Newcastle 8.05

Both the hat-trick seeking Typhoon Ten and consistent Ivatheengine look to have big chances here but I prefer to side with STRIKE RED for Richard Fahey. This son of Dark Angel caught the eye when beaten half a length by Night Of Romance at Leicester and quickly improved again to win at Hamilton. He backed that up again winning over C&D in July and while he was beaten at Lingfield last time it wasn’t by far. Back at this venue I think he can get back on track and looks good value to do so. He is 5lb higher than his last win but still has potential to do better.

Fernando Rah looked to spurn a good opportunity at Windsor and I’m finding it hard to back him here. He could run well but I’m going to oppose. Musicality needs a first-time visor to spark him into life but if it does he could be well handicapped.

Newcastle 8.05

Strike Red 11/2 each way

Newcastle 8.35

Wide open contest where it could pay to give SALUTI another chance at a nice price. He came sixth in his last race at Doncaster but he looks to be much more suited by this surface winning over course and distance in the first race in the Racing League in July. He is up 5lb from that win but if running to the same level he will go very close despite how competitive this looks.

The main danger looks to be Electric Love who is in cracking form with her last 4 races reading 1st, 1st, 2nd and 3rd. She went close of this mark last week and I expect her to be right in the mix again.

Newcastle 8.35

Saluti 9/1 each way
