York 2.10

With Sophie’s Star now a non runner this looks a good opportunity for PROFIT AND LOSS to make the breakthrough. He shaped with plenty of promise when fourth on debut at Thirsk and with usual improvement from one run to the next he can get off the mark. His experience should count for plenty so it’s no surprise to see him proving popular in the betting this morning.

Buckshaw Village is gradually getting the hang of things and ran well behind Ryan’s Party at Hamilton. More to come so definitely worth a second look. Churchill filly True Icon is the most intriguing of the newcomers and that’s being reflected in the market now.

York 2.40

With more to come NOTEBOOK can win again. He has won 2 of his last 3 and only went down narrowly over 7f here in between those wins. His overall form since being gelded reads 22121 so he is ultra consistent. I know he is up 8lb from that Brighton win but he quickened up like a smart horse and the field were nicely strung out in behind. He remains unexposed and I think connections have found a good race for him to win again.

First Folio won over C&D in June and was a good fourth at Newmarket last time so looks the obvious threat to the selection. Ey Up It’s Maggie was expected to do better last time but again wasn’t beaten all that far so she is probably the value to run into a place if bettering that here.

York 3.15

Just the 4 runners for this renewal and it could become tactical as a result with not much obvious pace on. I am going to keep it pretty simple with TABDEED who is the best horse in the race by 6lb on ratings and this could be the ideal opportunity to get his head in front. He has gone close in two Group 3s and a Listed race already this season and this looks a tad easier than those races and I expect him to take this if not inconvenienced by any tactics.

Gulliver has been running in some hot handicaps and has quite a few of the top time figures over this trip which he has won over before at York. He could rate the main danger ahead of Great Ambassador and Fivethousandtoone who both have a bit to find.

York 3.45

Hard to look past MISTRIX here for George Scott. This filly is a bit unlucky not to have a win next to her name given how close she has gone on both starts to date. With further improvement on the cards she can get her head in front here. Boondoggle will put good pace to the race and that will give her a target to run down.

I think Flash The Dash is probably the main danger to the favourite as she improved to win at Newcastle. While this is tougher switching to turf she can do better and she’ll be more of a threat if they go hard early.

York 4.20

This is a wide open handicap and I am going to take a chance on BOLLIN NEIL at a nice each way price. He ran in a similar contest over course and distance on fast ground back in July and only lost out by just under 2 lengths. He is 6lb better off for this race with Ella McCain’s claim and it could be just what he needs to go close. If he can run to that level he will outrun his price.

Gift Of Raaj is likely to go off favourite after two nice wins in weaker races and he only gets a 4lb penalty. He is likely to be the one to beat but this is a fair bit better than the races he has been winning so will have to work for his hat-trick.

York 4.50

Having been denied just a neck at Kempton VALUE TIP quickly improved again to readily make the breakthrough at Musselburgh last month. This likeable colt was briefly denied a run before seeing daylight and running on strongly. He was eventually eased down at the finish and was much the best as the odds reflected. He goes handicapping now but his opening mark looks lenient to me and I think he is a danger to all here with further progression to come. He likes to race prominently and with a lack of pace on here Marquand might even go forward on him. If he gets first run on a few of these I don’t think he’ll come back to them.

Duty Of Care was probably a bit lucky to hold on at Pontefract last time but that doesn’t look bad form so he is the danger given he is also open to improvement. King Triton ran yesterday so is unlikely to be turned out for this. Moktasaab isn’t always the most straightforward and could be vulnerable to an improver anyway.

York 5.20

It was hard not to be impressed by EMARATY HERO‘s comeback run at Musselburgh over this trip which saw him pull clear of rivals in a good race. He has clearly improved from 3 to 4 and for the step-up to a mile and a half. He has plenty to come and as long as he is ready to run again after 12 days off he is the one to beat.

The main danger is The Dancing Poet who is going for his third win in a row on Sunday and with just a 5lb penalty for a nice win at Catterick he will give the selection something to think about.
