NAP – Best selection of the evening

THE US NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 7 AT THISTLEDOWN ON THURSDAY NIGHT!

Race 7 Thistledown 8.50 Garrett (5/4)

Promising sort who made a bright start winning 3 of his first 4; beaten just 2 lengths in a much stronger race than this when last seen; makes his reappearance here but with potential to do better again he could make a winning start.

I’m looking forward to seeing GARRETT back out at Thistledown on Thursday night. This horse looked to have considerable potential winning 3 of his first 5 starts. We haven’t seen him since November 2020 but if he is fit and well on his return he will take a lot of beating here. He is proven at a much better level than this so his class could shine through. Kingofthebuckeye has been running well and got his head back in front 3 starts back. Looks the main danger to the favourite. First Song is relatively unexposed as well and brings winning form to the table but he won’t get his own way out in front tonight and I think he’s going to need to improve again to get competitive here.

Race 1 Canterbury Park 11.10 Shinny (11/8)

Smart type who made it 6 wins in a row driven out to score again over a mile on dirt last time; back on turf now but won his last 2 on this surface and 3 of his last 4 so plenty to like; should be finishing best of all; most obvious winner.

It’s hard to look past the winning machine that is SHINNY at Canterbury Park on Thursday night. This 4yo has an impressive record making it 6 straight wins last month. This track and trip suits him well and he might not be done improving yet so gets a confident vote to go in again. Pintxos wasn’t disgraced in third last time and if he builds on that he might be a bit overpriced. Not the most convincing profile though. Sanyaza was behind the latter last time so has a bit to find but is unexposed so might improve past him and get involved for a place as well but they all look to be playing catch-up to peg back this fav who has plenty going for him again and at a fairly decent price considering.
