NAP – Best selection of the evening
THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS AT HAMILTON ON MONDAY AFTERNOON!
Hamilton 4.30 Mac Ailey (13/8)
Ran his best race for a while when denied just a length at Ayr last time from 4lb out the handicap; second won again since to frank the form; hard to see how he doesn’t run another big race.
I know MAC AILEY hasn’t won for a while but this looks a really good opportunity given he is 4lb lower and back on his last winning mark now. That run last time suggests he is coming to the boil and he won’t need to better that by much to come out on top here in a very winnable race. American Pharoah filly Tefnut looks the danger but she remains a maiden and back in trip she is going to need to show more to trouble the selection. Smart Connection is also a maiden and just hasn’t been running well enough to win this. Connections reach for cheekpieces now which might help bring about some improvement but hard to warm to. This is more a case of how weak the opposition look which makes Mac Ailey an even stronger bet than he would be usually.

Wolverhampton 8.30 Headora (3/1)
Promising type who ran an eye-catching race when beaten just half a length over C&D on return; that form looks very solid; things didn’t go to plan at Kempton last time where plenty went wrong; can bounce back and go close.
I’m happy to forgive HEADORA that run at Kempton last time and if you put a line through that he has a massive chance of coming out on top here. He ran a cracker over C&D on return and looked to be going the right way. This looks the right race and even at 3/1 at the time of writing I think that’s a good price for him to bounce back and finally make the breakthrough. He has been backed in the market a few times so connections clearly feel he is capable of better. Velocity looks the threat. She clocked a career best winning here last time and if she is as effective up in trip she will give the selection a race. I’d have the front pair comfortably clear from the rest of these.
