Kempton 4.58
This looks an above average Novice Stakes with 2 or 3 that could be very good horses. BAYRAQ gets the vote after running a nice race on debut to finish third despite being hampered a furlong out. He should step forward significantly from that run and getting 7lb from the favourite should be a big advantage and Owen Burrows’ colt should go very close here.
Millennial Moon will be a short priced favourite for this after winning easily last time out and has a solid chance under a penalty. I just prefer Bayraq at odds against with less weight and the likelihood he will improve just as much as his market rival. Kitaab from the same ownership as the selection went wrong on debut and could be in the mix with plenty of potential in his pedigree.
Kempton 5.30
The market looks to have taken a chance on Swiss Mistress here for Peter Chapple-Hyam but it’s Lope De Vega filly AT A PINCH I want to keep on side. She sets the standard on what she’s achieved so far and went down just a nose at Beverley last time. She has more to offer and this looks a really good opportunity for her to finally shed the maiden-tag. I know she has been turned over at odds-on and heavily last time but she hasn’t done a great deal wrong and this is very winnable.
Swiss Mistress did show some promise on debut but was beaten 7 lengths into fourth. She is going to need a sizeable step forward to trouble the selection and given she is favourite that makes At A Pinch the value play. Atacamena also deserves a mention if putting her best hoof forward.
Kempton 6.00
Sadly our initial selection Kelmscott is now a non runner after attracting a fair bit of support at big prices. I’ve now got to side with the hat-trick seeking NIGHT EAGLE for Gary Moore. This son of Free Eagle is on the upgrade and did it well at Epsom last time. That looked quite a good race and I thought he impressed with how he asserted in the closing stages. He is up in grade now but I know his trainer thinks a fair bit of him so it’s no surprise to see him figuring prominently in the betting.
Tres Speciale looks the danger after 3 good efforts. That form might not be up to much when second at Salisbury but that Carlisle run looks decent and she can improve again. Of the rest Alyara burst onto the scene to win impressively at Carlisle and was coming back strongly last time so might not be done yet. She is bred to be pretty smart and could have a say at a bigger price.
Kempton 6.30
After such a good run the NAP has just rattled the crossbar of late so hopefully we can get it back in the winners enclosure at Kempton on Wednesday night. THALER impressed winning over 6f here last time and back up to 7f he should take a lot of beating here on handicap debut. An opening mark of 90 may well underestimate him and I think he’ll win this.
Sun Power struck over C&D in August and was progressing nicely prior to blowing out last time. If he bounces back he could be the danger to the favourite. War Command colt Sky Commander is quite a big price and has also won over track and trip so might be the value to run on into a place. A lot of these have something to prove.
Kempton 7.00
Only the 6 going to post for this in what looks like a hot renewal with TABDEED the one they all have to beat. He has gone close in his last 4 races which were all better than this with his neck third behind Happy Romance in the Hackwood Stakes at Newbury looking top-quality form. He comes out the best at the weights by at least 5lb and will take some beating in this race.
Royal Crusade is capable of putting up some big performances but has been behind the selection on multiple occasions. Live In the Moment could be the main danger if taking the step up in trip in his stride as he is in top form and looks to still be improving. Of the rest Stylish Performer is on a hat-trick and could well prove dangerous if improving again.
Kempton 7.30
This looks competitive and I’m surprised Paxos is as short as he is to be honest. I’m going to take two against the field with LOVE DREAMS my main play. He was due to run at Leicester last night but was taken out and connections have opted to send him to this race instead. He has been in cracking form lately going down narrowly at Sandown and then missing less than a length over a mile here and then just a head over the same trip here last time. He is just 1lb higher and looks to have plenty going for him again.
Given the shape of the race I’m also backing ECHO BEACH for Hugo Palmer. This son of Adaay is still unexposed and has run better than the form figures suggest the last twice. If he can get a better position in the race here I think he could be dangerous off his current mark. Dangers include the fav Paxos as well as Ivasecret who has won at this track before and could go well after a short break.
Kempton 8.00
Not the best race with plenty of these out of form so it likely pays to be with NOTEBOOK who came back from a year off with a nice win at Lingfield last month. The change of trainer and lower handicap mark seems to have paid off and he could run up a sequence of wins if coming on for that run.
Gherkin has been dropped a few pounds to give him a chance but will need to be better than he has been. Rainbow Mirage likes this C&D and wasn’t disgraced in fourth behind Bare Grils last time so may well end up the main danger.
Kempton 8.30
This is a very poor race to finish but QUEEN OF BURGUNDY should take a bit of beating. This Lethal Force mare hasn’t won for a while but is now some 20lb below her last winning mark and if she brings the form that saw her third to Sky Blue Thinking on penultimate start then she will go close. She wasn’t at her best last time having been slowly into stride and can bounce back here. Hopefully she gets a good pace to aim at as that will see her to best effect.
Moonshiner did some good late work at Wolverhampton last time and could be the danger if building on that. Aces has won over this C&D and is also likely to be on the premises. Given how open it is even Mr Moneypenny would have a squeak off the back of that runner-up effort at Salisbury last time. Blinkers could help too.
