Wolverhampton 5.00

A poor opener to the card at Wolverhampton with plenty of these not looking all that well handicapped. LA FEILE is the selection as she has the most scope for improvement after a good run over 6 furlongs in August to finish 2 lengths fourth. She has shown the most promise with that last run and her win on debut. If she handles the surface she should take this and at a decent price.

Beauzon has been consistent over course and distance going close plenty of times but I just don’t think he has the scope of the selection and may have to settle for a place again. Poet makes his handicap debut but is going to need to improve a fair bit but I suppose also has to be considered.

I thought DUTY BEYOND made a promising start for George Boughey when midfield on handicap debut over C&D last time. He still looked green to some extent but wasn’t given a hard time and did all his best work late. I’m expecting him to improve from that and he should be a lot sharper now. That looked a good race and he should find this a bit easier especially if racing a bit closer to the pace.

Secret Moment was a good second over C&D last time with the visor bringing about improvement. He is back up 3lb without winning though and on the balance of form is probably opposable here. Onaraggatip hasn’t won for a while but continues to run consistently. Fieldsman is also likely to be involved.

Wolverhampton 6.00

This is a good Novice Stakes with plenty of potential improvers that have already set a good standard. EESHA MEESH gets the vote after putting together two good runs on the all weather at Kempton over 6 furlongs. She finished third on debut before a 3 length fourth last time. She looks to have plenty more to come moving up and in trip and we should see her go well at 7 furlongs here.

Fylde Coast is the danger as he took a big step forward to go close at Beverley last time. If he improves that much again he will go very well. The only doubt is he gives the fillies 5lb which is a lot with the potential some of these bring to the table. Mumcat could also be in the shake-up if bouncing back from a tame effort last time.

Wolverhampton 6.30

It was hard not to be taken by the way HAUNTED DREAM won at Chelmsford a week ago. He took a big step forward to win impressively and you’d have to think if he can settle better in the earlier part of his races he is capable of even better yet. He has a 6lb penalty tonight but is hard to oppose off the back of such a dominant victory. Oisin Murphy takes over in the saddle which is obviously no negative.

Ulysses colt Odisseo bumped into a nice horse when denied a short head at Kempton last time and had won two previously so looks the danger if he improves again. Astaroth was given a lot to do last time and probably remains at the top of his game so he also has to enter calculations again tonight.

Wolverhampton 7.00

Like the earlier Novice Stakes on the card this is another competitive race with the level of form on show looking solid. OUTSMART is the selection here after 3 placed efforts from 3 starts he is due to get his head in front. All his runs have been good time figures and given plenty of time between races he will likely have improved again and I expect him to be in the mix going up in trip tonight.

Foden drops back into this after a run in a Group 3 where he was found to be well out of his depth at Newmarket on Future Champions Day. He won his maiden easily and with the claimer taking off a valuable 7lb he will be the danger here. Pavlodar ran poorly in France last time but could also get involved if bouncing back in calmer waters.

Wolverhampton 7.30

This is really competitive and not much splits the majority of the field. A tentative vote goes to NEWYORKSTATEOFMIND who proved really effective winning over C&D back in August. He raced wide that day but took it up with a furlong still to run and hit the line strong from some decent yardsticks. He is 4lb higher in the handicap tonight but this mark is still within reach. He has finished down the field the last twice but they have both been in really competitive handicaps and this is definitely a bit easier.

Blue De Vega won readily at Leicester last time but it’s been a while since he has struck on the AW and a 7lb rise looks harsh. He is still a danger but at a likely short price might be worth taking on. Mondammej could easily be a greater threat as he had won 2 of his last 3 prior to disappointing at York and could easily bounce back.

Wolverhampton 8.00

In an open race it may pay to take the each way price on GIFT HORSE who has been dropped 2lb for a couple of good runs in a better race and he looks overpriced here. He won his maiden over course and distance and has placed 3 times since then. He looks to be well handicapped now off 69 and I wouldn’t be surprised if he went off nearer 4 or 5/1.

Sidcot Swallet is the danger after going close on his first handicap run and he went close over course and distance on debut. Of the rest Lucky Man And Jazzy Princess have gone up in the weights after finishing first and second (split by a head) but both could still be dangerous.

Wolverhampton 8.30

A tricky race to close out at Wolverhampton on Thursday but I do like the chances of DELPH CRESCENT who ran a cracker when beaten just half a length at Beverley last month. That form has substance and back on the AW off what still looks a good mark he can go close here. 3lb claimer Connor Murtagh gets the leg up which also helps his claims further. I don’t expect him to be far away on the speed and if it pans out favourably he could be overpriced.

Shining Aitch wasn’t at his best last time but that Doncaster run when he missed by a short head was huge and prior to that he was running really well so he could easily be the danger. Out Of Reason will appreciate going back down in trip and also has to be noted. Ritchie Valens also looks to be on a handy mark and has first-time blinkers.
