NAP – Best selection of the evening

THE US NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 6 AT DELTA DOWNS ON THURSDAY NIGHT!

Race 6 Delta Downs 9.15 Chop Chop Charlie (10/11)

Useful type who was back to form when only grabbed late on penultimate start over a mile; built on that to power clear late over 7 and a half furlongs last time; hard to oppose if in the same form tonight and should win.

The way CHOP CHOP CHARLIE won here last time was very impressive and given this is no tougher and the drop back half a furlong in trip is a plus rather than a negative he should take all the beating. He will look to get settled early before powering to the front. Given he stays further he should be hitting the line hard again. Boston Repo is one of the pacesetters and he has gone mightily close the last twice so he could be a danger but I think he’ll face some pressure early tonight which should help soften him up. Laddie Boy ran in a better race than this last time but has to be respected on some of his earlier efforts this season. Buck Dynasty might be a bit of value to hit the frame on his return.

Race 6 Belmont Park 8.15 Flop Shot (10/11)

Likeable type who stayed on strongly to win a Group 3 in France; looked to need the run in a Grade 2 on Stateside debut in the summer; much better at this level over C&D last month; more to come now and leading claims.

It’s hard to look past FLOP SHOT here if he builds on that excellent second over track and trip last month. He was only headed late and is getting better with every run. This is no tougher and I don’t see anything as good as Price Talk in here so I think he’ll make the most of a good opportunity. Shamrocket was behind the selection in third that day and might be the biggest danger. Value Engineering is still relatively lightly raced and was only beaten a length last month. I think he needs more to win but if the market principals do disappoint he might end up picking up the pieces. Journeyman is also held on that last piece of form but is a decent yardstick and shouldn’t be too far away either.
