Race 8 Sale 6.50 American Angel (11/10)

Promising mare who was back to her best when a very good second going down just a head after an awkward start at Bendigo last time; won second-up last season and will strip much fitter now; hard to get away from.

The Aussie NAP was back in the winners enclosure overnight and we’ll be hoping for more of the same on Sunday morning as we head to Sale for our best bet. I have no doubts AMERICAN ANGEL is the one to beat here. I know she has finished runner-up on 5 of her 8 starts but I see nothing wrong with her attitude and if she builds on that cracking run at Bendigo she will have these cooked. She thrashed the opposition second-up last season so usually takes a run to get to peak fitness. Wascaly also looks a nice yardstick after winning on debut and then beaten less than a length at Cranbourne. Should keep the favourite honest and the pair looks a cut above the rest.

Race 5 Sunshine Coast 6.20 Macquarie Star (6/4)

Good looking chestnut filly who made a bright start finishing third on debut at Ipswich only beaten a length at the line; should be a lot more streetwise now and with improvement a near certainly looks the one to beat.

This looks a great chance for the improving MACQUARIE STAR to open her account. She ran a cracker on debut only beaten a length and this looks easier. She should improve plenty both mentally and physically and if she does she will have these in trouble. I think they think a fair bit of her so hopefully she can justify favouritism here before going on to better things. Elegant Drover has shown potential in 3 starts to date and could be the danger. Certainly looks to have ability. Pool Pony has run just okay in two runs to date and will need more to trouble the front pair. Probably needs more time and experience. Uzerli best of the rest but she’s had a few chances already so easy enough to oppose.
