THE AUSSIE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 7 AT NEWCASTLE ON MONDAY MORNING!
Race 7 Newcastle 7.05 Arabolini (15/8)
Useful type who was only edged out late by a useful yardstick when second again at Warwick last time; knocking on the door recently and everything points towards a big run again so one to keep on side against these.
With 3 wins from 9 attempts over this trip ARABOLINI looks set to go close. He has finished runner-up on his last 3 starts but isn’t doing a lot wrong. He gets a good draw here and I fully expect him to take advantage in what appears to be a winnable race. Birdonawinningpost is a nice mare who has 4 wins from 14 starts. She can keep the selection honest but probably lacks the gears to peg him back. Marakopa is another decent yardstick with 4 wins from 18 starts but again he has his work cutout to beat this favourite. Unwavering Faith is unexposed with 3 wins from 9 starts and could run well but I’m not sure this is going to set-up favourably enough for her to take advantage.

THE AUSSIE NB (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 8 AT BENALLA OVERNIGHT!
Race 8 Benalla 6.30 Bellinger (15/8)
Likeable type who won at Sandown at the start of the year and has been highly tried since; has the form to take this out and should strip fitter from that reappearance run at Sale; the one to beat in this line-up.
I think it’s hard to look past BELLINGER here given the potential he brings to the table. He has only won once from 9 attempts but has finished runner-up a couple of times and has been given some tough asks in recent times. He was never going to land a blow at Flemington on final start last campaign and shaped as though needing the run on return at Sale at the start of the month. He is likely to be a lot fitter now and has the ability to take this out. Choralist comes here with confidence high after winning at Echuca but she is going to need to improve again to cope with this favourite. Thorogood has only had 4 starts but has looked fairly promising. Could be best of a mediocre the rest.
