THE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS ON THE FLAT AT NEWMARKET ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON!
Newmarket 3.05 Whitehaven (11/8)
Progressive sort who ran a cracker bumping into another improver when runner-up at Haydock in August and stepped forward again denied a short head at Salisbury on return; won impressively last time; unexposed over this trip.
A further 6lb rise certainly demands more but WHITEHAVEN is improving all the time and he has come into his own since his stamina has been drawn out. He won readily on his first crack over this trip and with more to come he can go in again under Oisin Murphy. Royaume Uni is a tough opponent who looks on a fair mark so I expect him to keep the favourite honest with the pair likely to draw clear from the rest. Galahad Threepwood is a horse I like as well but this trip might just stretch him so I can see him running well but perhaps fading out of it in the closing stages where it matters. Solo Saxophone has struggled this season and needs a revival in a major way to get competitive.

Down Royal 3.30 Beacon Edge (7/4)
High-class hurdler who ran on strongly to nail Fury Road in a Grade 2 at Navan back in February; ran well at Cheltenham before falling at Punchestown; goes well fresh and looks a good chase prospect; lots to like.
This is a cracking race with 3 really promising horses lining up. I really want to be with BEACON EDGE here though as he always looked a chasing type and he is proven fresh. I do think a fair bit of Vanillier but my suspicion is he will come on a bundle for the experience and the outing in general. Gordon Elliott usually targets this race so that also makes Grand Paradis a big danger but I just think the selection has greater potential. With a clear round I don’t think they’ll trouble him. Champagne Gold reached a decent level over hurdles but rather lost his way. He could also run quite well without being good enough on the day. Lifetime Ambition is another one going the right way.

The Daily Double consists of both the NAP and NB and is a great way of covering our two best bets of the day to maximise profit. They run at Newmarket and Down Royal on Friday afternoon.
