Race 7 Mahoning Valley 8.33 Chocolate Soldier (11/8)

Useful type at this level and won well having forced the pace at Thistledown 3 starts back; good efforts in defeat since and went down less than a length over track and trip last time; similar effort should be good enough to win this.

The US NAP landed again last night so we’ve had 6 winners in a week which isn’t bad going at all. It’s not the most inspiring night Stateside so our best bet comes in a lowly claimer at Mahoning Valley but even still I’m confident CHOCOLATE SOLDIER can get himself back in the winners enclosure. He ran well last time and if he reproduces that tonight it should be good enough to see these off and make it 2 wins from his last 4 starts. The majority of his opposition all have something to prove. Perfect Sense was a place behind the fav last time but was trailing some 6 lengths. He could be the danger but at the same time has enough ground to make up. Wild Enough is also respected.

Race 3 Indiana Grand 8.27 Past Post (11/8)

Progressive form having won 2 of his last 3 starts and was really impressive on this surface at Belterra Park over the summer; only grabbed late in a better race than this over track and trip last month; hard to oppose.

This looks a great opportunity for PAST POST to make it 3 wins from his last 4 starts. He ran a cracker in defeat over C&D last time setting strong fractions and a similar performance in this easier race should be sufficient to justify favouritism. Venetian Dream could be the danger as he won well 3 starts back and had a lot of ground to make up in a better race than this last time. Turned out quickly but he will find this easier so should give the favourite most to think about. No Obligation had won 3 from 4 before disappointing last time and also has to enter calculations if bouncing back tonight. Hard to see any of the others proving good enough to land a blow.
