THE US NAP (BEST BET) WON LAST NIGHT AND RUNS AT TAMPA BAY TONIGHT!
Race 3 Tampa Bay Downs 6.12 Platinum Gem (6/5)
Promising filly who looked to need her debut run both physically and mentally finishing third; quickly improved to win impressively on debut for her new yard over track and trip last time; more to come yet and looks a nice prospect.
The US NAP won again last night so we head into Christmas Eve on a hat-trick as does the double. We head to Tampa Bay where PLATINUM GEM can make it 2-2 over C&D. She hit the line strong last time and this doesn’t look any tougher so a repeat looks on the cards. I only really see pace pressure from Jackknife and she is badly out of form so I think the fav will go to the front and might not see another rival. Royal Engagement was pitched into a Grade 1 at Woodbine on penultimate start so connections must think a fair bit of her but she has been beaten heavily again since so has enough to prove. She still might emerge as the main danger to the fav though. Sneaky Cheeky probably best of the rest.

Race 9 Gulfstream Park 8.59 Churchtown (13/8)
Created a big impression powering clear from rivals to make a winning start at Woodbine back in October; beaten pitched into Grade 3 company last time but did have excuses; this easier and can resume his progression.
I’ll be surprised if CHURCHTOWN is beaten at Gulfstream on Friday night. Plenty went wrong for this horse in graded company last time. He hit the gate leaving the stalls and had an awkward start before being rushed to the front. He dictated but was pressed soon enough and just failed to hold them off late. I think granted a smoother trip he might have taken a bit of catching and given this is a drop in grade he might always be fending these off. He brings a lot of potential to the table and 13/8 could look juicy come post time (a lot like last nights best bets, both well backed). Just Call Ray impressed me winning at Churchill Downs but hasn’t been seen since and has to prove his fitness here.
