THE AUSSIE NAP (BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 2 AT NEWCASTLE ON MONDAY MORNING!
Race 2 Newcastle 3.20 Royal Ballet (10/11)
Promising filly who needed the experience when midfield on debut over shorter here last month; improved from that to finish third over track and trip last time having raced keenly throughout; hard to oppose if settling better.
A big field for this but ROYAL BALLET is definitely the one to beat. She hit the line strong when third over C&D last time and from a low draw now and with extra fitness on side she is going to take some holding under Dylan Gibbons. She brings the most potential to the table for me and is comfortably the one to beat. Golden Years makes her debut for Joseph Pride and could be a nice type but she lacks experience and is up against a progressive looking filly in the shape of the favourite. Pharoah’s Reign has more to come after just 3 starts but will need more on what we’ve seen so far to win this. Rained Out is best of the rest but you’d think a place is her best hope here.

Race 4 Newcastle 4.30 Sea Legend (1/1)
Improving type who was back in the winners enclosure at Gold Coast last month, running on strongly from off the pace to win readily; open to further progression now and extra yardage looks firmly in his favour as well.
It’s no surprise to see the money coming for SEA LEGEND here as he looks well placed to follow up and make it 3 wins from 7 starts. He is building a nice profile and should come into his own over this extra trip. Sir Diamond looks to be the danger as he won at Scone on penultimate start last month and wasn’t disgraced at Muswellbrook last time and can better that here. Jonah Tali is 0/9 but has run so good races so may well be in the mix for a place again if bringing his best form to the table. He is a colt that should probably have done better than he has so far so don’t entirely write him off. Confident Lad is exposed in comparison to the market principals and ran a bit of a stinker at Canberra last time.
