Ffos Las 1.20

I think the Ffos Las opener can go the way of the Anthony Honeyball-trained UCANAVER with Rex Dingle in the plate. This mare bolted up on return at Worcester and while she has been beaten twice since this is easier and she won’t be taken off her feet early. She should be able to build confidence as the race goes on and with Jaunty Freyja likely to go hard off the front she should have a nice toe in until late.

The latter won at Chepstow but has a 7lb penalty which looks enough to anchor her. That leaves Rock Of Fame as the most likely danger to the favourite. She is open to improvement and should run well. Fire Lake is also likely to have more to come so at a bigger price might also be in there mixing it for a place.

Ffos Las 1.50

With the 17 runners here it looks ultra competitive with a narrow vote going to POTTLERATH. He ran a big race at Doncaster last time to finish second and gets to run off the same mark here. He likely has a bit more to come at this distance and should go well. Even his run when third to Kendelu would see him seriously competitive so I think he’s a decent each way play in a tough race.

On The Bandwagon is the favourite at the time of writing and is interesting on handicap debut with improvement likely over this trip but still has to prove himself. Greenrock Abbey was below-par when fourth at Hereford but back up in trip might rediscover some spark here. Blumen Glory is also worth a second look eased 1lb.

File Illico made a winning chase debut over C&D in October and made it 2 wins from 4 starts in this sphere at Wetherby last month. A 5lb rise makes life tougher though off a career high mark and I think he might be opposable at short odds. NOTEBOOK is the one I have in my notes for this. He resumed his progression winning over C&D on return following a wind op back in November.

While he has been beaten 3 times since he certainly hasn’t been disgraced. The handicapper has relented another couple of pounds again and this definitely looks easier. He will need to settle better as he did race too keenly at Wincanton last time but with a thriving Charlie Deutsch back in the saddle that has to be a big positive to his chances.

Ffos Las 2.50

This could prove quite a good race with a few of these likely to improve a lot. NATTY NIGHT took a big step forward last time out when winning at Taunton. The way he kept on up the run-in that day suggests he will be better than his opening handicap mark and is the one to beat. I was pleasantly surprised to see 9/4 on offer as I think he’ll go off a fair bit shorter than that come post time.

Ben Lilly is the main danger based on his Flat mark but has to show he can do better than his two runs over hurdles so far. Jaunty Viking doesn’t have much wiggle room in his mark but has been very consistent and is never far away so might be the value play for a place at big odds at the time of writing.

Ffos Las 3.20

Brooksway Fair really did disappoint when fourth at Uttoxeter and the way he travelled it was frustrating to see him beat so far. I think he is opposable off the back of that. POWERFUL POSITION is the one I prefer for Christian Williams. If he can put together a clear round of jumping then he is certainly handicapped to have a big say in the finish. He has a good attitude for the job and is expected to go close here.

Plenty of dangers in a race like this but perhaps Kestrel Valley will be the one to chase him home. She shaped much better when fourth over fences at Hereford and if she builds on that I think she’ll be in there pitching late on. No Quarter Asked has won here before and also deserves a shout going up in trip with blinkers added.

Ffos Las 3.50

In an open race I am happy to take an each way chance on KIERA ROYALE who could be overpriced at the time of writing. She is 11 now so won’t be improving much but could be well handicapped based on her chasing mark which is significantly higher than her hurdles mark so she may be able to make use of that. The usual hood is left off which is also interesting and I think she will go better than odds of 20/1 imply.

Checkitsme ranks the main danger after winning at this trip last time out at Leicester. He only won by a head so gets to run off the same mark here which is a big plus. The only thing with him is putting back-to-back good runs together isn’t always guaranteed. Pageant Material also won last time out and is also expected to get competitive.

Ffos Las 4.20

Always hard to be too confident in these types of races but I do like the chances of TAHMURAS for Paul Nicholls. He only cost €10,000 as a 3yo but his price quickly rose to nearly £70,000 as a 4yo and he won his only start in an Irish point. I know they think a fair bit of him and this looks a great chance for him to make a winning start. I expect him to be a big positive come post time so keep an eye on the market.

Fergal O’Brien is represented by Campden Lad and he shaped well last time so with experience on side could give the debutant most to think about. Spring Meadow is bred to be pretty useful but the yard are just 1-22 with newcomers in bumpers in the last 12 months which would definitely have to be factored in if deciding to back him here.
