Plumpton 1.40
A really open race to kick off the card at Plumpton on Monday with DIRHAM EMIRATI getting a narrow vote. He was well fancied on debut at Kempton when finishing third and it seemed pretty clear he is still learning. I expect him to come on a lot for that run and be the one they have to beat. He drifted slightly in the market this morning but is very much all the rage again now and should go off a short priced favourite.
Cuban Cigar finished second in that race at Kempton and will be a danger here but I expect the selection to improve past him. Coolnaugh Haze is by Lawman and showed encouragement when third at Warwick. If he builds on that he should get involved as well but certainly will need to if he is to win this.
Plumpton 2.10
I really feel Guguss Collonges is opposable here and MUSTANG ALPHA screams out value to me at 11/1 at the time of writing. I know he is a tricky sort to catch right and he is yet to show much for his new yard but as a result he is down to a mark of 104 now and given he won off 112 over hurdles if he does eventually take to fences he is clearly a very well handicapped horse. He has blinkers on now and they might help spark him back into life.
Guguss Collonges drops back in trip which I think will make him opposable. HE is also 12lb higher from that win here last month and I think he’ll need more to win. Minella Hub still has potential given his unexposed profile and it wouldn’t surprise me if he put in an improved performance here to emerge as the main danger.
Plumpton 2.40
With just the 6 runners set to line up for this it looks like HECOULDBETHEONE‘s to lose. He won convincingly on his hurdles debut before running a very good second under a penalty at Newbury. The winner Walking On Air looks very exciting so that is a standout piece of form in the context of this race. He still carries a penalty here but it looks winnable and he should be up to taking this out.
If Quickbuck improves from his hurdles debut he could be in the mix based on his national hunt Flat form. Of the rest Social City could be involved if bouncing back from a fall at Taunton last month. He was a decent type on the Flat and showed definite promise when fourth to Paso Doble on debut in this sphere prior to that mishap last time.
Plumpton 3.10
This is definitely one of the more competitive races on the card but I can see PARICOLOR running a big race for David Pipe. This horse has been a real money spinner for the yard and he was as good as ever bolting up at Bangor last month. This is obviously tougher and he is up 3lb but if he gets into a rhythm around here they might struggle to keep tabs on him. He has been freshened up since that last run and I think 5/1 is generous.
Minella Buster opened his account over hurdles last month and he has more to come now up in trip. This is more competitive but he is going the right way at least. Innisfree Lad won a veterans’ handicap over fences here 12 days ago and is 4lb lower back hurdling so also has to enter calculations.
Plumpton 3.40
This looks pretty competitive but NOTEBOOK has to be the one to beat. He has been in great form with figures of 1121 and seemed to improve stepping up to this trip last time. I expect Jamie Snowden’s 6 year old has plenty more to come and he should take some beating. He remains unbeaten over fences and given the fourth Scottish Accent won next time out the form has been given a handsome boost since as well.
Rose Of Aghaboe is the main danger after going close over course and distance last time out and could still be on a workable mark. That said the selection has a lot more scope for improvement. Chris Gordon runners always have to be respected so The Domino Effect is expected to show up better than what he did at Ascot on return too.
Plumpton 4.10
Another tough race to conclude but HEY BOB must have a decent chance? He is one of the few horses in the field that comes here in winning form having made all over C&D last month. He is up 5lb but there was lots to like about the way he found on that occasion and if he can build on that he should be up to confirming that form over Global Wonder here. He will go forward and if he gets the fractions right will take some catching.
Legal OK also won over C&D when last seen and made all too so the pair might always be dominating here. If they end up taking each other on and going too hard The Wire Flyer may prove the beneficiary. He has been largely out of form this season but has been dropped a further 3lb in the handicap so that must bring him into it if he can keep tabs.
Plumpton Mixed Acca
