NAP – Best selection of the evening

Chelmsford 7.30 Al Qaasim (7/4)

Improved to win over a mile at Southwell last month and backed that up impressively over the same track and trip last time; 5lb penalty but more to come up in trip and hat-trick very much beckons here.

It’s not the best days racing so we head to the AW at Chelmsford for our best bet on Thursday night. The NAP is chasing a HAT-TRICK so fingers crossed we can bank another winner before a busy weekend. AL QAASIM impressed me when following up last time and a 5lb penalty shouldn’t be enough to anchor him with the extra 2f here sure to suit. There isn’t much pace on so it will be interesting to see what Jason Watson does but it wouldn’t surprise me if he went forward. Especially given the danger looks to be Bella Colorossa who is likely to try and come from off the pace as can be slowly away. Brass Clankers has won over track and trip before and was poorly placed last time.

NAP

Chelmsford 7.30 Al Qaasim (7/4)

Wincanton 2.40 Plenty Of Time (15/8)

Point winner who ran a big race on debut over hurdles missing out by less than a length with the front pair miles clear; sure to improve on that and looks well placed to go one better here; could be a nice prospect.

This looks between the top 2 in the betting here and I’m keen to side with PLENTY OF TIME for trainer Harriet Brown. She shaped with real promise when beaten just three-quarters of a length last month. I thought the winner Abuffalosoldier looks a nice type and this extra yardage here is sure to suit given she won her point over 3 miles. Petticoat Lucy is the obvious danger as she beat 14 rivals making all here back in December. This is tougher though and a 7lb penalty was enough to sway me towards the selection. Mansoline should have a future over hurdles so also has to enter the reckoning but does lack that crucial experience the front pair have on her. Barford Diva can also improve.
