Kempton 7.00 Khatwah (5/4)

Progressive filly who clocked a career best over C&D last time doing well to win despite being awkward away from the stalls; 5lb rise doesn’t look enough to anchor her with the promise of more to come; sure to go well.

Mick Appleby has brought out the best in KHATWAH and I thought she was a convincing winner again last time. That was over track and trip and with a cleaner break away from the stalls she would have done it even more impressively so a 5lb rise shouldn’t be enough to stop her bringing up the hat-trick. Eponina and Porterinthejungle are likely to take each other on early and that might turn out to be an ideal scenario as she will get a nice toe in before looking to strike late. Exuding looks the danger for Rod Millman. She was a good second over 6f here last month and while the winner has let the form down since it was still a decent effort and she looks the most likely threat to the favourite.

Ludlow 1.30 Galop De Chasse (11/8)

Improving young chaser who was impressive at Lingfield on debut for this yard, winning by a wide margin; Chepstow came too soon; very much back on track at Huntingdon and almost certainly has more to come now.

With further improvement on the cards a mark of 120 looks well within reach for GALOP DE CHASSE. He was back to form following that Chepstow blip when second at Huntingdon last month and with further progression to come should be too good for these rivals. Cenotice won narrowly at Newcastle 3 weeks ago and looks the danger off the back of that. He rallied well to get back up but a further 2lb against a potentially progressive sort will make things tougher. Heronord isn’t out of this either but he needs to jump better to get competitive. It let him down again when last at Market Rasen so it was no surprise to see him revert to hurdles last time. Enough to prove on the balance.
