Race 2 Pakenham 7.15 Creme De La Bomme (6/4)

Good looking chestnut mare who is improving with experience; only beaten a couple of lengths when last seen over this trip at Moe; given time since and likely to have come on plenty; this looks a good starting point.

The Aussie NAP was back in the winners enclosure overnight so hopefully we can follow up on Thursday morning. We head to Pakenham where CREME DE LA BOOME looks a good bet to make the breakthrough. We haven’t seen her since April last year so she should have matured plenty since. This won’t take a great deal of winning and if she has the potential I think she has then quite simply she should prove a cut above these. O’lucky is the obvious danger on form but he also hasn’t been seen for a while and needs to improve on what we’ve seen as the selection has stronger form. Harmsworth remains a promising yardstick as well but might always be struggling to upset the front pair here.

THE AUSSIE NB (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS IN RACE 5 AT ALBANY ON THURSDAY!

Race 5 Albany 8.30 Special Royale (15/8)

Unbeaten filly who made a bright start winning well on debut at Mount Barker, justifying strong support; can improve on that here and if she does she should have every chance to make it 2-2 before going on to better things.

This does look quite a good race but even so SPECIAL ROYALE is the one to be interested in. She made a winning start at Mount Barker swooping from off the pace and with further improvement to come she can make it 2-2 here. Hopefully they go an end-to-end gallop as that will help her finish as I’m guessing similar tactics will be applied again. Speedy Pye made the breakthrough here on penultimate start but let backers down last time. If she bounces back she could emerge as the danger. Spirit Of Prophecy is exposed in comparison and while she has been running well she definitely needs more to get the better of the two mentioned above. Cable Boy has more to come but this is tough enough.
