Navan 4.05 Farouk D’Alene (6/4)

Improving chaser who impressed beating Blue Sari on debut in this sphere back in December; denied narrowly at Limerick and then bumped into Stattler at Naas; more to come and looks a danger to all here.

After pushing Stattler close at Naas I’m confident FAROUK D’ALENE is the one to beat here. He is an improving chaser who beat Blue Sari on debut over fences, form that has been nicely franked since. He then went down just a short head to Master Mcshee and that rival chased home Galopin Des Champs at Leopardstown next time. He beat all bar Stattler at Naas last month and I think that horse is destined for big things so in my book he lost little in defeat. With potential to do better again he can get the better of stablemate Run Wild Fred here. The latter is a very decent yardstick and he shouldn’t be taken lightly but I have high hopes for the selection. Beacon Edge looks best of the rest.

Southwell 6.00 Zarzyni (7/4)

Caught the eye running on strongly having missed the break for second over C&D back in December; bumped into a nice prospect when denied half a length over 6f here last time; this looks a great chance to win again.

Granted usual luck in-running I think ZARZYNI can return to the winners enclosure on Tuesday evening. He is clearly a talented horse and I think he can prove ahead of his mark if it all drops right. He can miss the break so I’d want to see him get away on terms before getting the gaps when he needs them. If all goes to plan he will be finishing best under Connor Beasley. The danger looks to be Digital who finished just a nose behind the selection last time. He remains unexposed on the AW so should give the favourite most to think about. King Of Stars is a past C&D winner who won 4 times from 10 starts last year. While he has been a bit below par this term he still can’t be ruled out as this is easier.
