Kempton 1:15 Coral ‘Fail-To-Finish’ Free Bets Handicap Chase

The opener on ITV looks wide-open with all of the 8 runners in with a chance. I am going to side with FOXBORO at a nice each-way price. He has gone close on his last 3 runs including over course and distance. He looked better on slightly quicker ground last time and should get similar on Saturday afternoon and I expect him to outrun his odds.

Flegmatik is the favourite at the time of writing after an easy win at the track over a longer trip earlier in the month. He will be competitive but might be better over further.

Lingfield 1:30 Betway Hever Sprint Stakes

This looks like a good opportunity for EXALTED ANGEL to reverse the form with rivals that have beaten him over this trip in the last year. He was beaten by Tone The Barrone and Mondammej in handicaps last year giving them plenty of weight. They are off level weights here and he should have more than enough to see them off now back down to 5 furlongs.

The main danger is likely the joint favourite at the time of writing Lord Riddiford who warmed up for this race with a good 3rd in a handicap. On his best form his will be in the mix.

Kempton 1:50 Coral Adonis Juvenile Hurdle

Paul Nicholls likes to take this route with some of his good horses to the Triumph at the festival and the vibes around PLEASANT MAN suggest he could be as good as such horses as Solo who took this race apart. He has the best flat form with a rating of 95 and is very interesting in this sphere. They say you can usually add 40lbs to a flat rating for a rough idea on national hunt potential but he still has to jump. I think he will run a big race here.

Knight Salute is the main danger for sure with 4 wins from 4 over hurdles including a good win over Porticello. He does give weight to the selection but there may not be a lot between them and it should be a very good race.

Lingfield 2:05 Betway Winter Derby Stakes

This very much revolves around LORD NORTH who is 8lbs clear of these on ratings. He won a Group 1 in Meydan after a long break last year so I think he will be more than ready for this. His has won multiple Group 1s so he will take some beating here for his trainer who has won the last 3 renewals of the winter derby.

The main threat looks to be Alenquer who is usually seen in Group 1s with his best performance last year a 2nd behind the classy Mishriff. He does have a fair bit to find with the selection though. Fancy Man has taken a liking to the all weather surface and should be in the 3.

Kempton 2:25 Coral Pendil Novices’ Chase

THis does look like a good bounce back race for PIC D’ORHY who didn’t run to his usual level behind the classy L’Homme Presse at Sandown at the start of the month. This looks a bit easier contest with the yards horses running better now than they were back then. If anywhere near his best he should win this.

The danger is Miller Bank who is a horse I really like but just can’t be relied upon. His run at Newbury before unseating was impressive but then he unseated again at Cheltenham on his last run. He has since had a wind-op and with a clear round he will go well.

Pic D’Orhy 2/1

Kempton 3:00 Sky Bet Dovecote Novices’ Hurdle

This looks like a really competitive renewal of the Dovecote with the narrow vote going to SHALLWEHAVEONEMORE. He has only ran 1 bad race and that was in heavy ground behind Constitution Hill. He bounced back on better ground last time to win at Sandown by 20 lengths. Gary Moore’s gelding will likely improve again here and is the one to beat.

Iceo I quite liked before Pied Piper brushed him aside but he could better here back at a track he has won at before. The main danger though could be the improving Aucunrisque who has stepped forward massively on his last 2 runs and if finding the same again could go close.

Shallwehaveonemore 11/8

Newcastle 3:15 Vertem Eider Handicap Chase

The Eider Chase is always tough to call with a big field running for just over 4 miles but I do quite like DANILO D’AIRY back over fences. He is unbeaten over the larger obstacles and everything points to him being even better over further. He pulled up over hurdles last time but that was likely to get a run into him in preparation for this and Robert Bevis’s 9 year old should run a big race off a very low weight.

Eclair Surf is a horse I have a lot time for especially after his impressive win at Warwick last month. The 1lb rise for that is the worry as she stays all day but that could make it really tough here. Favourite at the time of writing will likely play his part as History Of Fashion should improve for the marathon trip.

Kempton 3:37 Coral Trophy Handicap Chase

One of the most competitive races of the day to cap off ITV Racing on Saturday. It is worth taking the double figure price on GOOD BOY BOBBY to follow up his win at the end of last year off of just 4lbs higher. He has improved so much over fences and looks unexposed over 3 miles. He looks overpriced and should run a big race.

The Big Breakaway looked much better over hurdles last month after a wind-op and will be a threat back over fences if he comes on for the run. Of the rest Annsam impressed at Ascot in December and has likely be saved for this with just 6lbs more to carry.
