NAP – Best selection of the evening
Musselburgh 2.20 Clear The Runway (10/11)
Left previous form behind to land a gamble winning impressively on chase debut over C&D last month; remains open to further improvement and likely very hard to beat despite shouldering a penalty here.
With our original NAP now a non runner we head to Musselburgh as we look to land a HAT-TRICK of winners. CLEAR THE RUNWAY bolted up on chase debut over track and trip last month and a similar performance would see him hard to beat. Idilico cashed in off a reduced mark back over hurdles last time but that didn’t look much of a race to me and I think he’ll need more to deal with this favourite. Monsieur Co had no answers against the selection last time and even 7lb better off I’m struggling to warm to him even as the danger. Izzy’s Champion was disappointing at Bangor but if he bounces back he might be the value to finish second. Boy’s On Tour will find this easier but has enough to prove.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) WON YESTERDAY AND RUNS AT KEMPTON!
Kempton 8.00 Sir Gregory (2/1)
Improved on just his second start for this yard to win readily over this C&D back in January; two good runs in defeat since especially back here last time; feeling is he has more to come yet so leading claims this evening.
It’s been no surprise to see Mick Appleby get further improvement out of SIR GREGORY and with more to come off his current mark I think he can make it 2 wins from his last 3 starts over this track and trip. I thought he was given enough to do when finishing second last time and if the race pans out better he should be finishing best. The way he beat Magicinthemaking over C&D back in January was impressive with the field well strung out in behind. He is still only 6lb higher than that here so should still be handicapped to strike. The danger looks to be Monsieur Fantaisie who clocked a career best last time winning at Chelmsford. If he backs that up he should make a race of it.
