Thursday’s Best Bets
THE NAP WAS UNLUCKY YESTERDAY! Racing on Thursday from Ludlow, Taunton, Newcastle, Clonmel and Southwell. Daily Double pays 7/2!
Scroll down to find our most confident selections (NAP & NB) PLUS race-by-race picks for every race across all FIVE meetings.
NAP – Best selection of the evening
Southwell 7.30 Intervention (1/1)
Lots to like about the way he followed up his win over 7f here back down to this trip at Wolverhampton last month; effectively 12lb well-in here so looks to have a great opportunity to complete the hat-trick.
The NAP was luckless yesterday but hopefully we can get it back firing on Thursday! We head on the AW at Southwell and it will be disappointing if INTERVENTION can’t make it 3 in a row. He won an apprentice handicap at Wolverhampton last time so escapes a penalty from that and is effectively a whopping 12lb well-in as is due to go up to a mark of 69 in the future. Connections will be very hopeful and I’m expecting that to be reflected in the betting come post time. I know evens is already quite short but she should go off odds-on. The Cola Kid got his head back in front last time but he needs to get the perfect trip into the race. Bobby On The Beat is quite a big price but has it to do with the fav.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST (SECOND BEST BET) RUNS ON THE AW AT NEWCASTLE ON THURSDAY!
Newcastle 4.16 Roxzoff (11/8)
Progressive sort who clocked a career best following up at Southwell last month, briefly denied a run before coming through strongly; hard to oppose up to a mile now and looks set to bring up the hat-trick now.
Charlie Hills is in great form with 3 winners from his last 9 (33.33% strike rate) and ROXZOFF looks set to bring up the hat-trick at Newcastle on Thursday. He really impressed last time sweeping through and should have even more to come up to a mile for the first time. He is unexposed and a 6lb rise is unlikely to stop him here. Alvediston makes his handicap debut for William Haggas so is entitled to plenty of respected after just the 3 starts. Likely to be a nice horse in the making so probably the biggest danger but will have to be fairly useful to hold off this thriving favourite. Canny Fettle has a similar profile to the latter but will need to take a sizeable step forward to figure.
