NAP – Best selection of the evening

Wetherby 1.26 Hungry Tiger (13/8)

Stayed on well to get his head back in front at Newcastle last month, rewarded for a string of consistent efforts; 7lb rise but looks to have found a decent opportunity to follow up and likely very hard to beat again.

The NAP was backed like a good thing yesterday and duly obliged so hopefully we can bring up a hat-trick of winners at Wetherby on Tuesday. HUNGRY TIGER impressed at Newcastle and a 7lb rise doesn’t look enough to anchor him. He won the last day with plenty in hand to my eye and should have too much for these. Mahanakhon Power is yet to get his head in front over hurdles but still looks the most likely danger. This is his second start back since a wind op so he should give the favourite most to think about. Getaway Mission still has low mileage so shouldn’t be entirely ruled out but he needs to do more than what we’ve been seeing recently. The rest are all bang out of form.

NAP

Wetherby 1.26 Hungry Tiger (13/8)

Market Rasen 3.20 Royal Pretender (2/1)

Progressive form winning at Warwick and then Plumpton last year; far from disgraced chasing home another nice horse when second at Sandown last month; that form has been nicely franked since; obvious chance.

I know Whydah Gally fell at Sandown but he already looked in a spot of bother and the fact he has come out and hacked up since and the winner Peejaybee has ran creditably in the EBF Final suggests ROYAL PRETENDER is the one to beat here. He looked progressive to me last year and he could have a fair bit more to come yet given his profile. This track suits and I’d actually have him shorter than the 2/1 advertised at the time of writing. One True King is likeable but his jumping let him down over fences at Kempton and he needs to reignite the fire back over timber here. He might be the danger. Polish is also out of form but has blinkers on for the first time which could help him bounce back.
