ANOTHER NOTEBOOK LANDED AT A NICE PRICE OVERNIGHT! Racing from Australia on Thursday at Newcastle, Kyneton, Ipswich, Ascot and Pakenham. Overnight Double pays 11/2!

Race 7 Ipswich 7.38 Dollop (11/8)

Progressive sort who built on an encouraging debut to win his next two starts at Toowoomba; scope for further improvement and looks the one to beat especially if getting a good pace to run down.

With so many non runners it will be interesting to see what tactics DOLLOP applies as I think he’ll be better running down a target but he may end up going forward and looking to burn them off. He looks a cut above the opposition to me and I think he’ll make it 3 wins from just 4 starts. Halfahope shouldn’t be underestimated but he is just the 1 win from 7 starts and finished 11th of 12th at Eagle Farm last time and will have to better that to have any sort of a chance. His previous form was pretty solid though so may well return to form. Imprinted likely best of the rest but likewise he was nearer last than first at Eagle Farm and will need to leave that well behind to land a blow here.

Race 2 Kyneton 4.00 Dignified Doubt (6/4)

Promising filly who ran well on debut to finish second at Wangaratta beaten just 2 lengths at the line; given time since and sure to be more streetwise now; this looks a winnable assignment on her return.

Chart Buster is a decent yardstick but the facts are he is now 0/8 so I think that makes DIGNIFIED DOUBT a major player here. She ran well to finish second on debut and with natural improvement should take all the beating here. She has been given time to mature and should come to hand now. Chart Buster might loom as the danger but he needs more if he is to get off the mark. Pindari Point is 0/3 but has shown ability and if he steps forward he might get competitive as well. Greenhill Prince needs more on what we’ve seen so far so no surprise to see him fairly big in the betting. Hallowed Ground likely best of the rest but that’s only in terms of a place on what we’ve seen.
