Race 6 Wyong 7.05 Brillar (5/4)

Well bred sort who put it altogether to make the breakthrough on return at Hawkesbury last month, showing a good attitude to prevail; can improve again and looks well placed to follow up here; definitely one to keep safe.

I thought BRILLAR did well to make a winning return so with scope for further progress he should be able to follow up here. He has more to offer and going back up in trip will suit as well. He will be up near the pace and under a stalking ride should be hitting the line best. Stay Wealthy has a decent record over this trip with a win and four places from just 7 attempts. He is a decent yardstick but will need to bounce back after finishing last at Hawkesbury last time. Decadent Tale is a nice mare who won at Newcastle last time and if she builds on that she might also have a say in the outcome here. Hard to see any of the rest springing an upset as the market looks to have this pretty much spot on.

Progressive form winning his last two in good style from off the pace; can improve further and if he does he should have all these in trouble; likely to get settled early and look to run them all down in the closing stages.

I see this as a battle between the front pair and BLACKWATER BAY is readily preferred. I’ve liked this horse for a while so it’s good to see him stringing some wins together now. He looks to have worked out this racing game and with more to come over this trip (already a perfect 2-2) he gets a confident vote to bring up the hat-trick. The obvious danger is Roman Flirt who already has 7 wins to her name. She wasn’t seen to best effect on return when last at Ascot but should be a lot sharper here. She will keep the selection honest in the closing stages. Majinika has to be feared on exposed form as well but needs to prove himself over this trip. Similar comments can apply to Tollman.
