Perth 1.30 Knickerbockerglory (10/11)

Progressive hurdler who has won 2 of his last 3 now and was impressive at Ludlow last month, making all unchallenged by a wide margin; double penalty here but open to further improvement yet; can win again.

Even carrying a big weight I make KNICKERBOCKERGLORY the one to beat here. He is such a strong traveller and I think he’ll be ridden aggressively again under Harry Skelton and he’ll have these in trouble turning in. He made a fair yardstick look legless at Ludlow and he remains unexposed so I think there is more to come yet. Fleurman looked good winning at Market Rasen but let supporters down badly at Stratford and I’m not sure this drop back in trip is what he needs as he has been shaping as more of a staying type to me. Sanosuke was a nice enough horse on the Flat in Ireland but his jumping has let him down hurdling. If he can brush that up he might prove best of the rest.

Dubawi colt who bolted up in the style of a nice prospect on debut over a mile here; good attitude to win up to this trip at Newmarket; far from disgraced at the top level in France; retains potential; can make winning return.

I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far from GOLDSPUR and with Charlie Appleby and William Buick riding hot this Dubawi colt looks worth siding with to make it 3 wins from just 4 starts in the bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown on Friday. The way he won at Newmarket suggested he had lots more to come and I know he was beaten in France but I think he had excuses and I fully expect him to get back on track here. River Thames looks a nice horse in making himself having won comfortably on debut. He might just need a bit more time to be seen to best effect though but I expect the pair to battle it out. Cash also has a future for Simcock but I get the feeling the front pair in this are potentially smart.
