Sandown 1.20

A wide open handicap to get the juices flowing at Sandown on Friday and the vote goes to Profitable colt AUDITOR for Martyn Meade. He improved with every start as a 2yo winning impressively on his final outing at Windsor back in July. He showed a good attitude to go clear readily in the closing stages and he remains open to further improvement on handicap debut on return here. I thought 9/2 was quite generous at the time of writing and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was to go off favourite come post time.

Korker is likeable and showed a good attitude to record his third win of a busy campaign at Haydock. He was beaten off a mark 3lb lower than this on final start though and will need more. Shanko is unexposed and might be the one to emerge as the danger.

Sandown 1.50

A fiercely competitive renewal of the Esher Cup! Blue Trail disappointed last time out and even though he is likely to be dangerous for a yard that is flying currently I would rather go for something at a bigger price. OH HERBERTS REIGN is 2 wins from 2 over a mile and likely has more to come at this trip. It is his first run of the season but that isn’t a big worry as Hannon won this race 2 years ago so knows what it takes. He will likely be up with the pace and might pull out a bit extra in the closing stages.

Along with Blue Trail, Find is a big danger as I think he has improved over the winter and could be a much better horse here. Wanees won his last two starts and is also feared but needs to prove himself over a mile in company as good as this.

Perth 2.05

This is quite a trappy race so while I’m siding with the odds-on favourite PLATINUMCARD it isn’t a massively confident pick. He did well on the Flat and made a winning start over hurdles for Gordon Elliott. He is up 7lb from that but there isn’t much quality in here and I think he might be able to follow up. If you look at his Flat form then he could still be very well handicapped so while the price isn’t giving much away he’d have to be the most likely winner in such a weak race.

Parisencore looks the danger after finally getting his head in front at Haydock last month. He deserved that but this is tougher and he might end up finishing second again. Eclair De Beaufeu is out of sorts and is hard to recommend despite this being easier for him.

Sandown 2.25

A ridiculously small field for this years Gordon Richard Stakes and it leaves MOSTAHDAF a short priced favourite. He has only lost once in his career so far and that was when he was badly hampered in the St James’ Palace Stakes last season. He doesn’t win by wide margins but is always doing enough and will be tough to beat here. I flagged up a treble for this afternoon earlier in the week so hopefully you got on early as it paid around 8/1 when I tweeted and is much shorter now (mentioned below).

Foxes Tales is likely the bigger danger of the two rivals with some good form at this level last season and he goes well fresh. Juan Elcano has always been in and around this level and usually find 1 or 2 too good which is likely the case again today.

Perth 2.40

Another tough race to pick apart but looking at winners in recent years it usually favours to side with one nearer the top of the betting. POPPA POUTINE is flirting with favouritism at the time of writing and gets the vote. He is a leggy sort who could thrive over this extreme trip. His recent form is very solid 2212 and if the extra yardage does see him step forward a mark of 131 may well be within reach. He is usually up with the pace and if he gets into a nice rhythm it might just take a good one to peg him back late.

I See You Well thrives over these trips and edged out the selection at Fontwell earlier this month. He is up 2lb but is so consistent and that might be the form to focus on for this. Of the rest Ladronne is quite interesting if he improves again for cheekpieces and a wind op.

Sandown 3.00

This race is usually won by a top class horse and ALCOHOL FREE certainly fits the bill. Andrew Balding’s filly ran well in the Guineas last year before taking the Coronation Stakes and Sussex Stakes. That form would see her as the one to beat here and if ready to roll like she was at this time last season she wins. She obviously prefers a softer surface but she won on good ground at Newbury last year and I think she’ll get away with it against this field. I’m really looking forward to seeing her out again!

The others have plenty to find on ratings with Mutasaabeq looking the main danger. He hasn’t quite hit the heights at this level so far but took his prep run nicely and his fitness could help bridge the gap between him and the selection.

Sandown 3.35

I was at Newmarket when GOLDSPUR edged out Unconquerable and stablemate Hafit and while the winning margin was only small I thought he was value for more. He went on to finish third at the top level in France and while he was expected to do better that day it was still a very good run in defeat. He is open to further improvement and remains a lovely prospect for a yard that have started the season all guns blazing. Buick gets the leg up again and he should take an awful lot of beating.

River Thames is nicely bred being by Churchill and made a winning start at Punchestown in September. He is obviously open to improvement and could also be a nice type going forward so deserves plenty of respect in opposition.

ITV Racing Win Treble

We tweeted earlier in the week about this treble when it was 8/1 and it is now much shorter but we still think it looks a good bet.
