Saturday’s Best Tips
THE JUMPS SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE! Racing on Saturday from Haydock, Leicester, Limerick, Ripon, Sandown, Navan, Doncaster and Wolverhampton. Daily Double pays 13/2!
NAP – Best selection of the evening
Sandown 3.00 Greaneteen (13/8)
Smart chaser who stayed on strongly to beat Altior in this last year with a few of these trailing in behind; again showed his fondness for this track to win the Tingle Creek back in December; hard to beat back around here.
With course form over fences here of 211 GREANETEEN is extremely hard to oppose. He stayed on determinedly to beat Altior in this last year and clocked a career best to bag the Tingle Creek back in December. He had main market rival Nube Negra readily seen off back in fourth that day and is taken to uphold that form. He had excuses in Ireland when last seen and freshened up for this looks a great bet to defend his crown. Nube Negra missed Cheltenham so looks the danger but if the selection runs to the level we’re used to seeing around here then he might always be struggling to peg him back. Sceau Royal is certainly capable but he is a 10yo now and this looks a big enough ask on paper.
NB – Second best selection of the day
THE NEXT BEST RUNS ON THE FLAT AT DONCASTER ON SATURDAY NIGHT!
Doncaster 7.05 Matchless (7/4)
Stretched out nicely to win impressively over C&D last month and a 5lb rise shouldn’t be enough to anchor him if seeing daylight like that again here; still looks ahead of the handicapper; hard to beat in a winnable race.
Strawman is a big danger if picking up where he left off last year but he does normally need his first run back and I think he’ll come on for this. I’m keen to side with the favourite MATCHLESS who looked well suited by this C&D to win easily last month and if he builds on that again he should be hitting the line in front. Of the rest Hathlool has to be respected as well as while he was down the field at Lingfield he wasn’t beaten far and he remains fairly lightly raced so could run a big race albeit more than likely in defeat. Life On The Rocks ran poorly at Chester on final start but this track will suit better so he might be the value play for a place bet. Hard to recommend much else.
